THE wife of a US Army nurse in Afghanistan who saw her husband die while chatting with him on Skype said she saw a bullet hole behind him when he died.
Captain Bruce Kevin Clark died on April 30 while talking to his wife, Susan Orellana-Clark, during one of the couple's regular online video chats.
Army officials have not yet released the cause of the 43-year-old's death, but said it was not "a result of hostile action".
Ms Orellana-Clark said there was "no sign that Captain Clark was in any discomfort nor did he indicate any alarm" during their conversation, the El Paso Times reported.
"Then Cpt Clark was suddenly knocked forward."
"The closet behind him had a bullet hole in it."
She said other people at her Beaumont, Texas home, including a member of the military, "also saw the hole and agreed it was a bullet hole".
Cpt Clark, a father of two from Spencerport, New York, was deployed to Afghanistan in March with the A Company, Troop Command, based in Beaumont.
The US Army is investigating the circumstances of his death.
His wife said she issued her statement about the bullet hole to "dispel the inaccurate information and supposition promulgated by other parties", according to the El Paso Times.
