Those poor girls. Possibly they witnessed their mom and sister being killed, it sounds like they were definitely in the car with their bodies, they were forced to live in the woods with their crazy kidnapper, and then they (presumably?) saw him shoot himself in the head. And now they might get split up because they have different biological fathers. I hope someone gets those girls into intensive therapy, stat.

Family of kidnap-slaying suspect Adam Mayes refuses to claim his body

(CBS/AP) MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mississippi officials don't know what to do with the body of Adam Mayes, the man who shot himself to death after allegedly abducting two young Tennessee girls and killing their mother and oldest sister. A medical examiner said Mayes' family won't accept the remains.

Police believe Mayes killed Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne Bain, in their home in Whiteville, Tenn., on April 27. Bain's two younger daughters were safely recovered after Mayes fatally shot himself when police tracked him down in Union County, Miss., on May 10.

Mark Golding, the medical examiner for Union County, told WMC-TV that Mayes' body is currently located in the state crime lab in Jackson, Miss., still unclaimed by his family.

"I do realize it's a terrible thing that has went on, but someone is going to have to step up to the plate and eventually do something with him," said Golding.

Mayes' brother told WMC-TV that he doesn't want the body. Mayes' wife and mother are behind bars in Hardeman County, Tenn. on charges related to the kidnapping and murders. Golding considered getting the family's permission to donate Mayes' body for research, but he said that has to be decided before a person dies.

Golding said that according to state law, the state lab will keep the body for six months before it goes back to Union County, where Mayes shot himself. The county will ultimately be responsible for the body, and may have to cremate it at a cost of about $900.

Yeah, that would be a tough funeral to pay/care for.

No kidding. I can't imagine why his brother wants nothing to do with the body.

This whole ordeal is very sad for the Bain family and it doesn't sound like the girls are going to be able to grieve and move forward in their lives anytime soon, since Alexandria's bio-dad is making a ruckus.

    RIP Jo Ann & Adrienne

With trying to get her back. He gave up custody of her and her sister Adrienne to Kyliyah's Dad. I am not saying it is bad for him to want his daughter, but it just seems like the wrong time to start a custody battle after something like this. I can see the girls benefiting from being together rather than ripped apart after what they have gone through.

Body of accused killer is donated to science
    By Joe Sutton, CNN
updated 10:31 PM EDT, Fri June 8, 2012

Students will not know they are working on the body of Adam Mayes, according to a retired professor.

(CNN) -- The family of accused killer and kidnapper Adam Mayes, who was placed on the FBI's "10 Most Wanted" list, has sent his body to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where students will use it for research and educational purposes, officials said.
Mayes' body had been with the Mississippi State Medical Examiner's Office since early May, when he killed himself. The body was picked up from there and delivered to the university's forensic department on Thursday, said Mark Golding, medical examiner in Union County, Mississippi.
Mayes' body will not be identifiable to students because each body is assigned a number, according to William Bass, a retired professor at the school.
Authorities allege that Mayes, 35, killed Jo Ann Bain, 31, and her eldest daughter, 14-year-old Adrienne, on April 27 at their home in Whiteville, Tennessee. He then abducted Bain's younger daughters, 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah, who were missing for two weeks. After being cornered in Mississippi by authorities, Mayes shot himself in the head and died. The girls survived.
Both his mother, Mary Frances Mayes, and ex-wife, Teresa Ann Mayes, are accused of helping Mayes. His ex-wife is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of especially aggravating kidnapping. His mother faces charges of especially aggravating kidnapping and conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping.

You did. The article you posted previously stated that.

Welcome Beli to middle age and early Alzheimer's. Different places have different rules for body donation...
"It's the salt water that changes the Rainbow's pretty colors to gray." "And his colors never come back?" "No, once he's been to the sea he's changed forever. The Steelhead can come back home here, stay for the rest of his days, and live among the other Rainbow trout, but he'll always be different because of where he's been." Morsi, Pamela. Garters.
