Me too; that would totally freak the hell outta me. The key stealing could be just to creep her out, but I do think the building should be taking this seriously and help in any way they could. I wouldn't leave my dog unattended there either.
Hey guys, sorry I was at work all day but I just finished reading through all the replies.
I am most likely thinking it is someone who lives/works at the complex or maybe lives in the houses behind my complex.
But again, the whole not taking anything is the scariest part of all because I can't figure out what the fuck their motive is. Just to be an asshole and scare the shit out of me?
But anyway, I'm pissed that all my complex did was change my locks. They didn't install security like they said they would consider and they haven't even put a notice out to my neighbors. I notified them all today and the management was pissed apparently.
Oh, and I checked my underwear-it is all there.
Today is my 21st birthday and I'm terrified this stalker or whatever it is will come back tonight and ruin my whole birthday (I'm selfish).
The only reason I feel safe leaving my dog at home is because I know he'd destroy the shit out of someone if they tried to touch him and he didn't know them-but unfortunately he was in his crate at the time of the 'break-in'. From now on he'll be free in the apartment just in case.

I agree with Chaunce. Get a mean dog, get a concealed weapons permit, carry a small gun (only if you know what the hell you are doing) and take a few self defense classes OR move. Just my opinion tho. Not everyone should have a firearm.
If I were as afraid as what you are saying you are, I wouldnt be staying there at all, I wouldnt be going back there at all.
I will say tho that I would almost guarantess you that your landlords are not going to invest any kind of money into this situation (meaning surveillance). They dont live where you live, inside your apartment so it sounds to me like them changing the locks is as far as they are going.

That is what I've been thinking as a possibility. So just in case I've made sure to do a bunch of weird shit that will hopefully make the creeper think I'm the creeper instead just in case there is a camera hidden somewhere.
It has been fun acting like I'm totally insane-which now seems really weird...pretending I'm crazy while I'm alone in my apartment that may or may not have a hidden camera in it. Oh god, am I actually crazy? Haha.
My dog CAN be mean when he feels something isn't right or I'm in danger. It's pretty funny because sometimes when my boyfriend hugs me really tight he'll go crazy because he thinks he is hurting me or something. My dog is weird...or maybe just an idiot. Who knows.
I would love to have a gun, but because I have no idea how to use one (last time I used one was when I was 8) I don't think that is my best option, haha.
But yeah, I've wanted to move and not come back, but last night everything was fine, so I figured maybe things are okay...for now. I've been on my guard so I guess that is the best I can do right now. I'm not quite financially stable enough to just move away, so I guess I have to just do my best with the situation.
