Peter Keller allegedly shot his wife Lynnettee (41), their daughter Kaylene (18) and the family pets

Authorities are investigating an apparent double homicide where two women were locked in a Washington state home before it was set alight.

Firefighters had to force their way into the house on Sunday morning because the door had been blocked with a couch and other furniture, said Sgt Cindi West with the King County Sheriff's Office.

'It was clearly and intentionally barricaded,' she said.

Fire crews also found at least five gas cans in the North Bend house that appeared to be full of gasoline, West said.

The dead women were identified as a mother and daughter who lived in the home.

Q13Fox.com reported that the husband and father of the victims, Peter Keller, is considered a person of interest in the deaths, but his location is currently unknown.

Detectives with the major crimes unit are investigating the deaths, which are being called suspicious.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office removed the bodies Sunday, and autopsies will determine the cause of death.

A bomb disposal unit called in to clear the house found a suspicious device, but investigators later determined it was not a bomb, West said

Hours after the fire, investigators blew up a device at the scene as a precaution, she said.

No one else was found in the home.

Sgt West said a couple and their daughter live in the home, but the identities of the victims have not been confirmed, and police have not identified suspects.

'We're not calling anybody a suspect because we don't know what we have,' she added.

Chief Lee Soptich of Eastside Fire told KOMO News that one of the victims was about 20 years old, and the other is believed to be about 30.

Cate Reynolds walked to the scene Sunday afternoon with her daughter and other friends who said they were best friends with and recently graduated from the same high school as a young woman who lived in the house.

'They wanted to just come and be close and process some stuff,' Ms Reynolds said

A 2003 blue-grey Toyota Corolla missing from the home was found several miles away from the home.

A neighbour reported the house fire Sunday morning in this rural, wooded community in the foothills of the Cascades, about 30 miles east of Seattle.

When firefighters tried to enter the front door, they found it had been blocked.

Fire crews eventually forced their way in, found the two women's bodies and pulled them outside.

Attempts to resuscitate them were not successful.

Firefighters were unable to go back into the house because of the gas cans and other safety reasons.

Crews were able to put out the fire about an hour later.

I've never had any issues moving a sofa out of the way. I would probably be capable of flipping the thing over if I was in a hurry to get out of a burning house. Maybe they were dead before the fire was lit.

I'm thinking the same thing. Plus, you could use almost anything to break a window. Doesn't add up.

They have newer articles out now.

Apparently the family had the furniture arranged blocking the front door and used the side door. So the doorway wasn't barricaded like they initially thought.

Changed ages too, up to a woman in her early forties and one in her late teens-early twenties.

Probably, since the door they usually use wasn't blocked.

M.E.’s office identifies women shot and lists cause of death
The two women found dead in a burning, rural North Bend home April 22 both suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The family’s dog and cat were also found shot to death in the home.

The medical examiner’s office identified the women as Lynnettee Keller, 41, and her daughter, Kaylene Keller, 18.

King County Sheriff Steve Strachan said in an interview April 24 that the situation is now being considered a double-homicide, and police are looking for Peter A. Keller, who lives at the home and has been missing since firefighters responded to the scene.

Keller, 41, is not being named as a suspect at this time, Strachan said.

“There are many possible explanations of why he would not be considered a suspect,” he said. “But we don’t know enough yet about what happened. We want to talk to him to see if he had any involvement in this case.”

Missing man is not a suspect

It is known that Keller lived in the home with his wife and daughter, according to Sgt. Cindi West with the sheriff’s office.

    Peter A. Keller

Detectives had been looking for a 2003 blue-grey Toyota Corolla, with Washington plate 911 YWK. That vehicle was located at about 5:30 p.m. April 22, parked near the North Bend Library. Police are interested in finding out how long that vehicle had been parked there, she said.

The sheriff’s office also released a public bulletin April 23 asking for help in locating Keller, described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. Police are asking people to call the sheriff’s office at 206-296-3311 or 911 if they have information.

Strachan said Keller is a hiker, known to camp with his dog (the one that was found dead in the home) in the North Bend and Snoqualmie wilderness, well off established trails. He said the sheriff’s office had a helicopter in the air April 23, “But since there are no indications of a particular trail he frequents, we just really don’t even know the area to focus on.”

Posters with Keller’s photo were placed at trailheads, urging people to call if they see him or if they have information.

Keller may have a red-and-silver mountain bike with him, and several handguns and rifles are missing from Keller’s residence, according to the bulletin.

Strachan said Keller has no known history of violence, and law enforcement officers have not been called out to the residence on any domestic violence calls.

And while Keller has not been named a suspect, Strachan said detectives are looking into whether Keller had been facing any life-changing events, such as a job loss or death in the family.

“He worked at some sort of computer business and there is nothing to indicate he was experiencing trouble in his life, but we will continue to follow up on that,” he said.

Seven gas cans were in the home

West was at the scene, in the 47000 block of Southeast 159th Street, April 22.

She said neighbors had called Eastside Fire & Rescue at about 8:30 a.m. when they noticed smoke coming from the house.

Firefighters had to force their way into the home to try and get the women out of the living room.

It was initially believed that a couch had purposely been placed to block rescue attempts through the front door, but Strachan said that is just how the family had arranged the furniture in the living room.

Firefighters also found seven gas cans with gasoline in them inside the home, and the sheriff’s office bomb unit and fire investigators were called to the scene, West said.

Emergency personnel found two women inside, brought them out of the house and tried to resuscitate them, but they were pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

West said firefighters didn’t enter the home again after retrieving the women due to safety concerns.

    ‘Normally a nice, sleepy town’

Several neighbors on April 22 came by the home, which was blocked by police tape on one end of the gravel road, and by a barricade and deputy at the other end of the heavily, wooded area and street filled with emergency and investigation vehicles.

One couple, who did not wish to be identified, said they did not know the family, but were shocked to hear the news.

“It’s weird to wake up to fire engine sirens and then to hear what happened. It’s shocking,” the woman said.

“We’ve been living here for 16 years because it’s normally a nice, sleepy town,” her husband said.

Yeah and who else brings "seven gas cans with gasoline in them"?

    NORTH BEND, Wash. —

The King County Sheriff’s Office has located the bunker where the suspect in the slayings of two women is believed to be hiding.

The subterranean bunker is built into a hillside near the Rattlesnake Ridge Trail outside North Bend. The Sheriff's Office said a tactical team smelled wood smoke before they found the hidden structure.

Police believe 41-year-old Peter Keller is inside the bunker, where officers "heard and saw movement" after deploying gas into the structure. They said they know someone is inside, but cannot confirm if it is Keller.

Police have been looking for Keller since his wife, Lynnette Keller, and their daughter, 18-year-old Kaylene Keller, were found dead in their burned-out home in North Bend on Sunday. They had been shot to death, the medical examiner said.

Sheriff’s detectives found clues to the whereabouts of the bunker after processing the crime scene at the house where the women were slain. Detectives also received tips from citizens who had seen Keller’s truck at the Rattlesnake Ridge Trailhead over the past year.

King County and Seattle police SWAT teams began a search of the area on Friday morning. The bunker was located in the southwest area above the trailhead. King County Sheriff Steve Strachan said the bunker is believed to go back at least 20 feet.

Strachan said based on the photos detectives discovered of the bunker at the crime scene, Keller had been building for it for at least eight years. It is believed to have multiple levels.

The bunker appears to be fortified by logs and dirt and was very well hidden.

Bunker where North Bend slaying suspect believed to be hiding found

Police said Keller is a survivalist who has a collection of guns, scopes, silencers, ammunition and a bullet-proof vest. Strachan said entering the bunker will be "extremely difficult."

Keller was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson on Wednesday.

Authorities in Washington state say they've found a body in an elaborate bunker they had surrounded in the Cascade Mountains, and it appears to be that of a man wanted for killing his wife and teenage daughter last weekend.

The King County Sheriff's Office sent word via Twitter on Saturday that they'd found the body, nearly 23 hours after they first located the structure carved into the side of Rattlesnake Ridge east of Seattle.

The suspect was 41-year-old Peter Keller, a heavily armed survivalist not seen since the killings at his home last weekend. Keller had spent nearly eight years building the bunker.

Fugitive in Wash. bunker recorded video of plans

Before he killed his wife and teen daughter and retreated to a remote bunker in Washington's Cascade Mountains, Peter Keller recorded a video explaining his mindset: He was bored.

"It's getting to the point where just trying to live and pay bills and live as a civilian and go to work, that just freaks me out," the 41-year-old survivalist said in a video clip released Thursday by the King County Sheriff's Office. "It's actually more comfortable for me to think about living out here, robbing banks and pharmacies, just taking what I want for as long as I can. At least it'll be exciting."

Keller shot his wife, Lynnettee, and his 18-year-old daughter, Kaylene, at their home in North Bend, east of Seattle, in April. He set canisters of gasoline on the kitchen stove, turned it on, and headed to a fortified, camouflaged bunker he had spent the past eight years building into the steep, thickly forested slope of Rattlesnake Ridge. King County sheriff's detectives spent days trying to figure out where he was.

They narrowed down his hiding spot with tips from the public, who had seen Keller's red pickup at the Rattlesnake Ridge trailhead - a photo taken from the bunker that showed outlet stores in the distance - and the work of trackers who saw his boot-prints in the muddy ground. Keller killed himself as dozens of SWAT officers moved in, an outcome he predicted in his video.

Looking down into a handheld camera, with his head wreathed by evergreen trees and the blue sky, Keller stated flatly: "If I get caught, I'm just going to shoot myself. I could be dead in two weeks or three weeks, I don't know. It's all up to chance at this point."

He added: "I do have my escape and it's death. Shoot myself. I'm OK with that. ... I won't have to worry about Lynnettee or Kaylene. Everything'll be taken care of. It'll just be me."

The sheriff's office said it was releasing the video now because recent forensic tests recently proved that one of Keller's guns was used in the murders. There were no other suspects.

In a news conference, Sheriff Steve Strachan also announced that tens of thousands of dollars were found bundled in the bunker, though he declined to specify how much. Lynnettee's family announced that they would use the money to establish a scholarship fund in Kaylene's memory (www.kaylenesfund.com ) for women who attend DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond, where Kaylene had hoped to study video game design.

"The family didn't really find there was a problem with Peter," said Lynnettee's twin brother, Gene Rocha.

"We'd go there for holidays and it was like every father-and-daughter relationship," he said. "She'd look at her father and say, 'Daddy, can I have this?' And he'd say, 'Sure.'"

    He left a video:

It's scary watching that video and seeing that this was something he'd obviously been planning for a long time. The thing that stood out most to me is that he was moving all of his stuff to the bunker preparing for after he'd murdered his family and he's taking his wine making kit.

    RIP Lynnette and Kaylene
