A New Jersey babysitter was charged by federal agents with using a sleeping, 5 year old girl for a "live" porno show--chatting on Skype, while she 'streamed' footage of herself sexually abusing the girl inside her Manalapan home.
FBI agents say in another instance, 32-year-old Jennifer Mahoney recorded images of the child being sexually touched during a bath.
The United States Attorney in New Jersey charged Mahoney this week with two counts of the sexual exploitation of a child; a criminal conviction could carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison.
Mahoney's troubles actually started in Texas last month, when police raided the home of a man there and found three videos on his computer of Jennifer Mahoney having sexual contact with the little girl. Two of the videos show the "Skype" session; federal prosecutors say Mahoney is shown molesting the sleeping child with her hands and licking the girl's buttocks, while laughing and talking to someone. The third video shows Mahoney abusing the child in the tub, while filming it with her IPhone. At one point, Mahoney reportedly asks the girl to lean over, so she can rinse her. "Like a mermaid?" the child asks Mahoney. "Like a mermaid, sweetheart," Mahoney replies. The FBI said instead of rinsing the girl, Mahoney put her fingers in the victim's vagina.
On December 13, 2011, Manalapan police arrested Mahoney at her New Jersey home, and she initially faced state charges.
New Jersey U.S. Attorney, Paul Fishman, said in a statement, "Whether making, distributing, or viewing child pornography, the depraved appetites of offenders create a market for the destruction of a child's innocence
The house where Mahoney allegedly molested the child belongs to her elderly father. One neighbor, Susan Fowler, said she mostly just saw the family at an annual block party on Becket Road. "I'm appalled to hear that," Fowler told PIX 11, when she learned of the abuse charges. "it's just very upsetting.". When asked to describe the quiet community of Manalapan, where American flags hang from many homes, Fowler said, "We're a middle class town. We go to church on Sundays. I work in the food bank."
A police captain from the Manalapan PD briefly spoke to PIX 11 on Becket Road. When we asked about Jennifer Mahoney, he said, "I know she's in the Monmouth County jail,". Turns out Mahoney has been unable to post the $250,000 bail that was set on December 13th. When PIX 11 left Becket Road, we noticed a school bus pulling up right outside Mahoney's house, the local stop for neighborhood children.
