POLICE have confirmed they spoke to a couple and seized their computer on the day they went missing.
Craig Stanley and Rebecca Michels, who are engaged, have not contacted family or friends since October 27 when they left home in Frankston, saying they were going prospecting for gold.

Det Insp Shayne Pannell said police spoke informally to the couple but did not take anyone into custody when a raid was conducted on a Langwarrin house on October 27, the day after Ms Michels' 25th birthday.

Computer equipment was seized at the time and is still being analysed.

Warrants have since been issued for the couple's arrest.

The raid was conducted after police received Information, believed to be from a complainant.

It's bound to come out eventually. I bet they will make a pact and die together rather than be found if they haven't killed themselves already.

Or they fled to Fiji ages ago. Even though it's computers seized and stuff, it seems like they had a heads up and a plan. I still suspect it has something to do with money, and plenty of access to it.

"The police tell me that the evidence is virtually irrefutable, that being the case, I love my child and I'll stand by her and her choice in life – but they need to stump up and answer the charges," he said.

Detective inspector Shayne Pannell told the Herald Sun police spoke to the couple informally but did not take either into custody when they raided their Langwarrin house 13 days ago, on Ms Michels' birthday.

"We had in fact been at their house the day they went missing and we'd actually seized some equipment there, a computer, and we were waiting on the examination of that computer," he told 3AW radio station.

De Insp Pannell said the raid was carried out after police received information, believed to be from a complainant.

Images and video seized from the couple's property is understood to link one or both to the offences.

Det Insp Pannell told 3AW evidence found on the computer implicated the couple in crimes committed elsewhere.

THE family of a woman believed to be on the run with her husband has engaged a solicitor to act as an intermediary, believing she is too fearful or embarrassed to make contact with them or police.
Craig Stanley and Rebecca Michaels fled their home in Frankston last month after police raided their property and seized their computer.

Sydney solicitor Ben Archbold today confirmed he had been instructed by family of Ms Michels to act in her best interests.

?Rebecca?s family are extremely worried about her, and after receiving instructions to act, I now urge her to make contact with me,? Mr Archbold said.

?If she is too embarrassed to contact family or if she?s fearful of the police or the legal system for whatever reason, I urge her to make contact so we can resolve this matter.?

He said if one of the reasons for Rebecca not handing herself in was the prospect of jail, she could be reassured he knew of the allegations and that there were alternatives to full-time custody if she was charged and the matter was proven.

The couple are believed to have been in hiding for a couple of weeks, but police cannot rule out they have left Victoria.

However, another avenue being investigated is that they have slipped into regional NSW undetected.

The last person to see them before they vanished was told they were being picked up by someone else.

Haulage contractor Matt Scobie explained that the couple came across him in Ballarat on October 28 and inquired about having a car transported.

The next day they arranged to drop their rented Nissan X-Trail at Mr Scobie's depot in nearby Ross Creek.

Mr Stanley arrived at the depot at lunchtime and paid $220 to have the car taken back to Frankston.

He said he thought it cheaper to have the vehicle transported.

"He said he had to get it back because it was running out of (free) kilometres," Mr Scobie said.

"I said, 'Do you need a lift anywhere?' and he said, 'No, they're picking me up'."

The couple had hired the X-Trail before leaving Frankston on October 27, the day police raided their house at Langwarrin.

Computers were seized and arrest warrants issued after they were checked.

Stanley is said to have spent time hunting down ghosts around Victoria, visiting cemeteries and monuments hoping to crack an X-File, Fairfax media reports.

The mysterious 28-year-old has also worked as a bodyguard, private investigator and a tour guide who had an interest in prospecting for gold.

The couple are believed to have scrambled together $4000 to go on the run.

Sources have told the Herald Sun they took the money from a bank account but family believed they had "slightly more than that" before they vanished.

Rebecca Michels' family has sought legal advice "in the event of her arrest", knowing the 25-year-old will be questioned by police about "serious offences" being investigated.

Her father, Ross McAdie, said he desperately wanted his daughter to call home and that an extended family member was on hand in Victoria should she need help.

"Right at the moment I would give anything in the world to hear her voice," Mr McAdie said.

    "It's an emotional roller-coaster."

He added that his daughter would not want to remain a fugitive.

"As big as this country is, I can't see my daughter living in a humpy in the outback," Mr McAdie said.

"I'm a father who is trying to make sense of this behaviour."

A COUPLE who had been on the run for the past three weeks have been found and arrested this morning.

Craig Stanley was spotted at a supermarket in Dimboola, almost 400km north-west of Melbourne, and arrested at about 10am today.
Police then went to campsite at a nearby national park where they arrested his fiancee Rebecca Michels.
Ms Michel's father, Ross McAdie, told the Herald Sun that her family were "very, very relieved" they had been found safe.
"It's been a long time," he said.
"We haven't spoken to her yet, but from a parent's point of view you hope every minute of the day it was going to end. Thankfully we are there."

Mr McAdie is due to fly from Darwin to Melbourne, with wife Patricia, tonight or tomorrow.
He said he would say to his daughter when they meet: "We love you and are you safe, happy and well?"
Mr McAdie added: ?Now we can turn our attention to defending the allegations."
Ms Michel's lawyer Ben Archbold said he would be speaking to his client over the phone and she would be giving a no comment interview to police.
The couple are being brought to Horsham where they are expected to be refused bail and remanded in custody over the weekend, he said.
Mr Archbold, who is based in Sydney, said he would fly in to represent his client in court on Monday.
He was unsure about whether the couple would appear at Frankston or Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
He said he would be happy to represent both parties on Monday if required.
Michelle Crowhurst, owner-manager of the IGA in Dimboola where Mr Stanley was spotted, said details about how the arrest unfolded were sketchy.
She said she thought Mr Stanley could have been in one of the aisles when he was spotted.
Hindmarsh Shire Council mayor Cliff Unger didn?t know the fugitives had been caught in his town until he was contacted by the Herald Sun.
"That?s the last thing you want to see in your town,?? Cr Unger, who is in Mt Gambier, said.
"It?s certainly a worry for our residents."
The couple had not been seen since October 26 when they left home in Frankston, saying they were going prospecting for gold.
They set off in a hired Nissan X-Trail, leaving a note saying they were heading for Bendigo.
Friends and family were left dumbfounded by their disappearance before investigators confirmed they were wanted for questioning.
Police allege material seized from their home computer linked one or both of the pair to serious offences.
In a plea for the pair to come forward, Det-Insp Shayne Pannell said the family was "disappointed" at the news the pair were wanted for questioning.
"Like us they are still very concerned for their welfare as to the circumstances they disappeared," he said.
Ms Michels' father Ross said at the time he was dumbfounded by the development.
"We're totally stumped. Absolutely, we did not see this coming," he said.
"Her family love her. Her family need to see her. Her family will stand by her. Her family will stand by her partner. But her family want her to come home, hand herself in."

    Where do I collect?

    http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news...118-1nn2s.html

A Melbourne couple on the run from police have been found 400km from home and charged with making child pornography.
Craig Stanley, 28, and his fiancee, Rebecca Michels, 25, were hiding at a riverbank campsite in northwestern Victoria but another camper spotted them and called in police.
Sex crimes detectives who specialise in child abuse offences interviewed them separately in Horsham, not far from where they had finally been located, before a brief court appearance to remand them in custody.

A computer filled with extensive video footage had been found in the couple's home, police will allege, which formed the basis for their arrest and charges.
A police spokeswoman said both have been charged with making, possessing and transmitting child pornography, and committing indecent acts with a child under 16.
The couple hadn't been seen for three weeks and were initially treated as missing persons.
Ms Michels' family had even pleaded for information on her whereabouts and were stunned when police later confirmed their disappearance had become a criminal investigation of a serious nature.
"I love my child and I'll stand by her, and I'll stand by her choice in life, but they need to stump up and answer the charges," her father, Ross McAdie, told the Nine Network earlier this month.
The engaged couple had been missing since October 26 when they hired a car and drove from their Langwarrin home near Frankston in Melbourne's far south to Ballarat, leaving a note to say they had gone prospecting for gold.
The hire car was found returned with camping equipment inside.
Detective Inspector Shayne Pannell said the couple had probably been camping in the Little Desert National Park, just outside Horsham, for several days.
"We received a tip-off from people in the park who had seen them," he told AAP on Friday.
Mr Stanley was followed by police as he walked into the nearby town of Dimboola on Friday morning to buy supplies from a supermarket.
He then led police to their camping hideout, where Ms Michels was arrested without incident.
The couple will spend the weekend in custody before an appearance at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

Disgusting. Sick fucking pigs. I hope there is no option for her to serve out her time in a more comfortable manner like her father was suggesting. These two need to be busting large rocks into smaller rocks for the rest of their days.

Spot on Beli and Olivia! Glad I didn't bet against ya.

What a mind twist to see them as possible victims first, to full on piece of crap abusers. Wonder what her family thinks of her now?

Well, her family was already aware of what she was being charged with, I think.
