08.11.11- Jessica Louveau's Funeral; Steering Team Meeting Last week, we received a call that Jessica was being rushed to St. Louis. Jessica was Bridget Sterling's daughter. Jessica had been on a heart pump since Jesalyn, her daughter, was born almost 5 years ago. Within the last year, they were able to take her off the heart pump and put in a defibrillator. However, last week, it seemed her body began to fail. On Sunday,

08.06.11, Jessica died at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. On Thursday, I had the honor to officiate her funeral in Evansville, IL. Please continue to pray for Bridget as she has to make decisions concerning her granddaughter Jesalyn. At Steering Team, the major points of discussion was building projects and church growth. Currently, we have the upstairs CM project going on and the parsonage razing is scheduled to kick off. Church growth has been awesome! We talked about ways to get more people involved in serving opportunities on Sunday morning and ways to take our Sunday morning to the next level.

I'm wondering if they are talking about the LVAD (Left Ventricular Assisting Device). It is connected to the heart, to replace the left ventricle, due to heart failure. Wires come out of the body and into a battery pack. It kind of looks like a fanny pack and has to be worn at all times. She must have needed a heart transplant, the heart transplant wasn't coming soon enough, she became sicker, they placed the LVAD, it makes you better, and you end up getting bumped down the waiting list. It is kind of a catch 22. When you become so ill, you may die in a short period of time without it, yet, it improves your health so you are not at the top of the waiting list for a new heart. If you EVER are in need of an organ, register at multiple transplant centers! It improves your chances of receiving an organ sooner! Each transplant center has their own criteria for "accepting" an organ for a recipient. Look into more aggressive transplant centers, not the ones that one the most pristine organ coming from the most pristine circumstance. If you do, you will die waiting. Just my opinion. Carry on.
