Speaking of Wild.  I was disappointed that it was reported that they had to reshoot pretty much all of Spike Jonze, "Where the Wild Things Are".  The pictures of scenes that I saw were awesome, but they said it was too scary for kids.

HAHA Muddled mess works well with music videos since people are just watching and listening to the song and picking up the mood. That type of idealism does not always transfer over well into actual film making where it has to be more than visual stimulation for the masses. haha

Exactly.  Spike Jonze is interesting as a director but I think sometimes his ideas are so high concept that they are a good example of the differences between story telling in a novel/comic than in a film.  A lot of ideas translate much better in the written word than to screen.

I agree. It is a bit disheartening though, because it would be amazing if he could/would collaborate with someone who could bring his stories to where they need to be.

It's funny but I have been reading again a lot lately and realized how much the bad movies, art, & remakes, have made me really enjoy reading again.

Ugh, for me, there are so many garbage books out there and it's very frustrating to me to see something like Twilight get so massive when I can't get arrested.

I haven't even attempted the twilight series. I saw to many people to "into" it and figured that means it was probably bad. Bad meaning not my cup of tea. I figure that I will not like a movie made after it either.

I have however found a bunch of interesting books in a spare room whilst packing the other night and decided on Whitman and Poe to help get my creativity knocking around.

I'm not a pop culture bashed, contrary to what Ron thinks.  There's room in my life for the esoteric and the commercial.  I love Harry Potter, although like, not as purely as some people.   But those books are just badly written.  I picked on up and was like ew.  It's like Norbit: the novel. People will get into it because it's some internet fatty's fantasy and she's writing all this story but she has no skill whatsoever, just getting the story out.

Me, I'd rather read a beautiful, amazing book about nothing than a clumsy, oaffish plot heavy novel, which is why I have never really been into the mustery genre/sci fi.
My goal in life is to write a really good horror fantasy that's both deep and engaging.

AHAHHA Twilight reviews are my new favorite thing to read:

Combines the plot of HBO's True Blood with the intensity level of Saved by the Bell.
    Kyle Smith
    New York Post
    Top Critic

It [the book] bored me to tears and sucked the life out of my summer vacation. The movie is much better and gets an above average rating only because it is days shorter.
    Gary Wolcott
    Tri-City Herald

I'm glad I saw Twilight for one reason: It made the phrase jump the shark obsolete, to be potentially replaced with The vampires are playing baseball.
    Phil Villarreal
    Arizona Daily Star

I think Edward Cullen has Asperger's syndrome... Bella should totally go for Jacob instead, but then he could do way better with any of the townies... Edward looks lame ripping trees out of the ground and jumping around the forest like Tom Cruise on Oprah
    Fred Topel
    Can Magazine

OMG -- I'm so totally not a teenage girl.
    Kevin Williamson
    Jam! Movies

The High School Musical of vampire films.
    Michael Sragow
    Baltimore Sun

And in this world, vampires have no fangs, they don't sleep and they...well, they sparkle in the sun. Sigh. Glittery vampires. Pretty sparkly ones that don't have fangs.
    Jenna Busch
    UGO

Dark Shadows at Degrassi Jr. High, but with half the budget of either of those two shows.
    Devin Faraci
    CHUD

These aren't vampires. These are fairies.
    Eugene Novikov
    Film Blather

So I saw Bolt this weekend.

Meh.  I feel bad but John Tavolta really creeps me out, and it's not cute to hear his voice coming from a tiny dog.  Some of the animation was amazing and some of it was like, well since we blew the budget on this, this other thing has to look super shitty.  The voices were all wrong, IMO, all like, old people doing cartoon voices to kids.  And whatever happened to a movie with little kids in it for little kids to relate to?  This was 'too adult' IMO. And there were parts where it dragged, and a kid's movie should never drag.

What did the kid think of it?  I thought besides stuff looking cute, a lot of the industry info would be over their heads and boring for them.

I saw Twilight this weekend...it wasn't TERRIBLE but the book is 4568548787 times better. It was very disappointing about the vampires having no fangs!! My kids will like it  :-)

I admit I have no desire to see Twilight, but in the clips they appear to be out in the daylight. Are they reverse vampires? Are they from Tansylvania?
<br />The best thing happened. A guy was butchering Conway Twitty at Karaoke and the power went off in the bar. Someone shouted you pissed Jesus off when you messed with Conway!

My friend saw the movie and confirmed it.&nbsp; He also said 90% of the film is the vampire and the chick exchanging smoldering stares. Then the vampires play baseball.

I'm going to have to see it. One of my closest friends is a Twilight freak, she dressed up and dragged me along to a midnight release. In her defence, she is still technically a teenager.
