A GRIEVING mum whose toddler died after allegedly being misdiagnosed by doctors was then wrongfully accused of murdering her son by police.
Devastated Abby Podmore, from Quinton, was arrested within two hours of three-year-old Alfie’s death and locked up overnight in a cell despite protestations her son had been ill in the days running up to the death.
She was released the following day when a post mortem examination revealed Alfie died from pneumonia that led to septicaemia, but Abby was not allowed to see his body for ten days.
The arrest also led to murder rumours on Facebook and around Abby’s community, which left the grieving mum fighting to clear her name.
