Miss. Lisa Marie Gattis, age 19, born, October 14, 1988, joined God in Heaven on August 20, 2008. Lisa loved life, family and friends. Lisa graduated from Ashley High School in 2006 with honors. She chose to attend Cape Fear Community College to be a radiologist. Through her high GPA, she had been accepted at UNCW, UNC Asheville, ECU and several other colleges. Lisa was a dancer for 8 years at Dance Express. She did ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop. She played the flute in marching and symphonic bands. She was also a very creative artist and studied under Jackie Malpass. She volunteered at Soar, Capps, the Humane Society, Pet Smart and Pet Food City . Surviving are her loving mother and step-father, Judith and Wayne Lewis, her brother and best friend, Glenn Gattis, her father, Gary Gattis, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and her dog "Princess," her two kitties, Shadow and Spookey and many, many friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Peace Baptist Church, 320 Military Cutoff Road, Wilmington, with the Reverend Rudy Shepard officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-3 pm and request that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a trust fund set up to help her brother Glenn Gattis with college expenses, at the Alliance Credit Union on 17th Street in Wilmington.
