I got 2 Loreal lipsticks for $2 each.

Oh and always scan your card at the coupon machine when you go! I didn't even know there was a coupon machine.

I also went to CVS to get some bleach and the girl in front of me got back $5 Extra Care Bucks and didn't even know, she just told the lady "oh just keep the receipt"
so the lady used the $5 towards my bleach so it would have been $10 and I got it for $5... I lucked out haha

I'm also going to apply or food stamps while I student teach. I figure I've been paying into the system for 10 years, I deserve it.

I keep kicking myself in the ass for not getting a Fred Meyer loyalty card lots earlier.

I signed up like 6 months ago. You can add coupons to your card online, so when you scan your card at the register, all the coupon amounts automatically come off. Plus .10 off per gallon at Shell, and they send me rewards coupons. The ONLY thing they have ever sent me was a little reward card, good for $16 and change off my next purchase (no dumb exclusions). I could have saved literally hundreds of dollars...

They MAY still give them to you. I know that here you have to do a job search. Which basically means if you arent working, then you have to go sit in some BS class for like 2-3 hours where they "teach you" how to find a job. Then they give you a job search sheet and make you fill out places you wnet and applied for jobs. the beauty of this however is that they cant call and check up on everyone job search so they just take your word for it.

Not the same as food stamps but my friend was able to get unemployment (the place she worked at closed) and take classes as long as the classes were at night since most jobs are during the day.

It's Kroger 'round these parts, but also kinda like a super wal-mart kinda Kroger. They sell groceries, plus EVERYTHING 'cept booze, guns, and porn (and that's only 'cause of the pesky laws).

I agree that it's ridic, but I think they're more making sure kids don't starve to death than rewarding people for having kids they can't afford.

when I live in Tennessee, I went to the food stamp office. I was sitting in the waiting room and could not help but overhear this girl named Shannon. Shannon here is a single mother of 7 kids and pregnant with the 8th. all from different fathers and a couple from unknown fathers. Oh And did I mention, Miss shannon is only 24 years old! How in the fuck do you have 7 kids at 23??!!! Bitch was BUSY. I am not a judgemental person by any means. Labeler, yes. Judgemental, No. I Had the BIGGEST look of disgust on my face as this chick spoke. My husband even said, "ya wanna hide that look a little better?" I said "GOD NO. I am completely disgusted. and here she is, in the food stamp office. Bitch SHOULDA been at planned parenthood for a birth control appointment.

Fleta, How long ago was that? When my Mom left her job and moved in with my Grandma in Beaverton to help take care of her, she got them for herself. I believe it was just under $200. I know they ask all kinds of questions regarding property, bank accounts, and even vehicles owned. And she said she didn't cook with anyone else in the household. I think that is the trick question?

It was 8-9 years ago. I got super frustrated because I was jobless, broke, hungry (to the point it was affecting my health significantly), not "homeless" because I was lucky enough to be crashing on a flea-infested friend's floor, 1500 miles away from any family, and dealing with a raging kidney infection that led to 1000s in medical debts.

Every benefit I applied for was denied, and the first question anyone asked was "how many kids?" I was actually told by OHP (before the lottery) that I could qualify if I got pregnant, so to let them know if that happened.
/TLDR pityparty -- life is good these days, I'm just a LEETLE bitter

I once made $7 over the limit for OHP. (Now with diabetes I don't know what I would do without it.) Oregon is great with many programs. You just have to be able to find them that's the problem. I do know foodstamps can no longer buy energy drinks!

I went to Safeway's website and signed up for the Just for U coupon program. I figured I would print off some coupons. It seems that if I use my free store club card, I can just add what coupons I want directly to the card on this site. Hooray no printing or cutting. Now I wonder what else is out there???

They get a set amount of money, it's not like if they spend all their $$ for the month the state calls you and tells you to buy them shit. Who cares if they spend it all on one BBQ and starve the next 3 weeks!?!? Lesson learned for them!
