The 10-year-old boy accused in the shooting death of his neo-Nazi father will not be arraigned on murder charges until July.

A Riverside County Superior Court judge postponed the arraignment Wednesday so the boy - who has not been named due to his age - could undergo a psychological evaluation requested by the attorney defending him, according to a report by the Press-Enterprise.

Police say the boy intentionally shot and killed his father, 32-year-old Jeff Hall, May 1 at Hall's Riverside home. Hall was the California director of the National Socialist Movement, the nation's largest neo-Nazi group

The boy's attorney may be able to enter a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity on his behalf, depending on the results of the evaluation. The boy will not be charged as an adult.

The Press-Enterprise reports that the boy has admitted to police that he shot his father. If found guilty on the charges against him, he could remain in custody at a juvenile hall facility until he is 20.

Police say the boy said he pulled the .357 revolver's hammer back and fired it after pointing it at his father's ear, according to a court declaration obtained by KTLA partner the Los Angeles Times. The boy then went upstairs and hid the gun under his bed.

The boy also told police that Hall beat him, his stepmother, Krista Faye McCary, 26, and the couple's other children, according to a report by the Times. He thought Hall was "cheating on his mom" and thought he would have to choose between parents.

The Riverside County District Attorney's Office issued an arrest warrant Tuesday for Hall's wife, McCary, saying she was responsible for leaving the gun that killed Hall within reach of her son, the Press-Enterprise reports.

As of Wednesday afternoon, McCary had not yet been arrested, police said.

Prosecutors charged McCary Tuesday night with five counts of child endangerment and four counts of criminal storage of a firearm.

The boy's 9-year-old sister told police she had been target shooting with her parents and where the guns were kept in the home, according to the Times report.

Hall ran for a seat on the Western Municipal Water District but lost in the November election. His bid for the seat drew outcry from community groups dismayed that a neo-Nazi who held racist rallies at a day laborer center and a synagogue wanted to administer their water.

He lost his November bid to replace incumbent Tom Evans on the Western Riverside Municipal Water District board.

McCary was not the boy's mother, according to the Press-Enterprise report. Hall had sole custody of the boy and his 9-year-old sister. He had both children from a previous marriage.
