    Long Island Serial Killer (LISK)

Officials Say Long Island Has At Least Two Serial Killers

At a news conference today authorities identified another body found along Long Island's Ocean Parkway, and revealed that the 10 sets of human remains discovered since December were likely dumped by at least two killers, and probably more.

The press conference was held in Suffolk County, where 8 sets of remains were found. No new information was released on the two bodies found in neighboring Nassau County. Four of the victims were previously identified as women who worked as prostitutes and booked clients online. It appears that they were all murdered by the same person.

Today authorities identified another victim as 20-year-old Jessica Taylor, Newsday reports. She also worked as a prostitute in D.C. and New York, but her death seems to be unconnected. Her headless and handless body was found in July 2003 in Manorville, which is on the eastern end of Long Island, about 45 miles from where the rest of her body was found in March.

The body of another woman, who is being referred to as Jane Doe No. 6, according to the New York Times, was disposed of in a similar way. Most of her body was found in 2000 in a wooded area of Manorville near where Taylor's torso was found three years later. Other parts of her body were found along Ocean Parkway in April.

There are two other victims whose deaths seem unrelated to the others. The body of an Asian man in his late teen or early 20s has been ruled a homicide. Police also found a female toddler between 18 and 24 months old. It's still unclear how she died.

While previously it seemed police had found one of Long Island's most prolific serial killers, now it looks like they've just stumbled onto one of the area's most popular disposal sites. Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said:
"It is clear that the area in and around Gilgo Beach has been used to discard human remains for some period of time ... As distasteful and disturbing as that is, there is no evidence that all of these remains are the work of a single killer."
And it's likely that authorities will still find more remains along Long Island's coast. Police found the first victims while searching for Shannan Gilbert, who was last spotted in the area about a year ago, but they still haven't turned up any clues about what happened to her.

    Update:

NYPD COPS WITH HISTORY OF HOOKER TROUBLE BEING EYED IN LI KILLINGS

..Two NYPD cops are being eyed in the Long Island serial slayings after investigators learned they got into trouble for hiring prostitutes while working for the department, according to sources familiar with the probe.

One cop was forced out of the job in the 1990s when his supervisors learned he spent time pursuing hookers and paying street walkers and down-and-out women for sex while he was supposed to be on patrol.

An internal investigation led to his resigning under pressure, one source said.
The other officer still works for the NYPD but was stripped of his gun and badge years ago because he allegedly assaulted a prostitute and got arrested during a sting operation....

Nice move publishing that shit. That's the last thing cops want from a serial killer investigation unless they're setting up false leads to encourage the killer to pop out. They'll give the press fake news so the guy thinks the cops are on the wrong track and either relaxes or feels compelled to correct them.

An investigation into 10 bodies strewn along a remote New York beach parkway grew more perplexing Tuesday when police announced that DNA testing had determined that two victims found miles apart were related and that the remains of another unidentified woman matched body parts found 15 years ago.

The death of the unknown toddler whose body was also found there is so sad. Now they are thinking 1 person is responsible for all 10 bodies. Wasn't there a suspect who had brought out one of the last girls missing to his home where they were seen arguing? We must have lost that in one of out crashes?

Yeah, a lot was lost in the crash. Was the guy they interviewed multiple times a cop? I remember a cop being interviewed too and can't remember if it was the same person. And, wasn't some guy from Connecticut interviewed? Monter, can you post some info when you see it? I know it's not easy to search for threads, it took me forever to find this one with the update. Keep us in the loop:-)

Wow Monter! That is some great info! I feel bad for Shannon's family. I think I would probably be in denial too, though. The thought of a loved one missing always brings hope that they are still alive somewhere. It also sounds like the investigation is a cluster f**k. I need to see if I can find the A&E episode about the "LI Serial Killer" that one article said aired on December 5th.

I watched it. It really didn't air any information that I didn't already read but it was interesting to hear from the identified victims families.

Did you watch it the night it aired, or have you found it online? I think it would be interesting to find out more information on the girls and their families. Like, why were the girls into prostitution.

I def will. I haven't found it yet. I thought it would be on Hulu if it wasn't on the A&E website. No luck, yet.

I watched the night it aired. I happened to be on vacation and normally wouldn't have been awake for it.

Sooo, a co worker today mentioned to my mum and her friend that "inside sources" are saying a prominent LI business man that committed suicide in December is the Gilgo Beach killer.

I poked around on google and all I could find were forum posts where everyone and their mother "knows someone". Then, on a police forum there were comments that SCPD more than likely leaked the rumour on purpose to see if it would stick and if it did, they'd just pin it on the dead guy because they've got nothing else to go on.

Not sure what to think at this point because it just takes one armchair detective to spout off a theory for it to become fact.

More level headed thinking combined with SCPD looking to peg it on anyone

I watched Shannan Gilbert's Disappeared episode today. She was the girl they were searching for when they stumbled across all the bodies. I am so confused about all of this. What the hell is going on there?

I don't want to come off cruel or unsympathetic. I can't imagine what Shannan's family is going through. And their search for her has led to many missing women to be found and "brought home". But I honestly don't think she was a victim of the serial killer or that her death is related to the others. It was just a fluke. I think she freaked out, wandered off and died of exposure.

Long before these bodies were found, they were randomly finding bodies out east here by me. And people were saying (including myself) Helloooo! Serial killer!!! But the police kept saying calm down, there's no serial killer and none of them are connected (even though a few were known call girls). Then Gilgo beach happens and what do you know? Body parts found at Gilgo belonged to body parts found in Manorville!

It's weird (and scary) that no other bodies turned up. Makes you wonder if who ever was doing it stopped, died or found a new dumping ground.
