We can now add IKEA to the list of online casket retailers right along side online retail giants Walmart and Amazon. IKEA is taking it a step further though; if you don't want to buy your casket online or in their store you can just purchase the Do-It-Yourself guide and build your own!! Read below for the full store and picture. It was only a matter of time before IKEA ventured into coffins. Artist Joe Scanlan has created simple coffins for $15,000?or a book for $27.50 that tells you how to make your own coffin from IKEA parts for less than $400.

N.Y. woman to give birth -- as performance art

Performance artist Marni Kotak will turn her birth experience into live art at New York's Microscope Gallery.

This just in: a woman in New York will soon give birth — in a museum. In front of an audience. As a piece of performance art.
/No, I am not making this up.

Performance artist Marni Kotak has created an exhibit in which, according to her website, she will present the birth of her first child as a work of art. The exhibit and event will take place in Brooklyn's Microscope Gallery, aptly titled "The Birth of Baby X." Kotak recently opened the exhibit by converting the gallery into a birthing room, bringing in her deceased grandmother's bed and her mom's old rocking chair.

Over the course of the next few weeks, she will be in the gallery preparing mentally and physically to have her child, right up to the moment where she does in fact give birth. Then, she'll have her baby right there in the gallery with the help of her husband, a midwife and a doula. In front of a live audience.

"I know it will be challenging, but I think if people give birth in the completely inhospitable environment of hospitals, hooked up to IVs and monitors and strapped with stirrups into a bed, I can give birth in an art gallery. And in giving birth in front of the audience, I am showing them, as in my previous performances, that real life is the best performance art, and that, if our eyes can be opened to it, all of the meaning that we seek is right there in our everyday lives," said Kotak in an interview with The Village Voice.

Brother and sister caught having sex in railway station lift avoid jail after judge says their lives are 'in ruins'

Both blame each other for sordid act caught on CCTV
Pair placed on probation after judge shows leniency

A brother and sister who admitted having sex in a railway station lift have been spared jail.

Richard Finlayson, 21, and his younger sister Kirsty, 18, were caught having intercourse at Motherwell train station in Lanarkshire on June 27 last year.

The pair, both from Lanarkshire, pleaded guilty to the charge at an earlier hearing.

And today Richard was put on a probation order for two years, which will be reviewed in six months to decide whether he should receive sexual offender counselling.

The former soldier must also abide by the terms of the Sex Offenders Act for two years.

Kirsty, who was 17 at the time of the offence, was also given a probation order for one year and will receive counselling regarding mental health, substance abuse and employment issues.

Sentencing them at Hamilton Sheriff Court today, Sheriff Ray Small said the publicity the case had brought meant the pair's lives were now 'in ruins'.

Both brother and sister have blamed each other for what happened.

After admitting the sex act, Kirsty claimed she was drunk and couldn't remember it.

A railway worker at the station raised the alarm after they were filmed in the elevator by station CCTV cameras.

The 15-minute clip showed them leaving the lift, only to return to have sex for a second time.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, she said the incident has left her unable to sleep and destroyed her family.

She added: 'I've been made out to be a monster and have had to deal with people calling me a prostitute.

'It's changed my life forever. I wish I could turn back time.'

Kirsty was living in a homeless hostel at the time of the offence and said she'd gone to meet Richard to borrow money.

She said they were waiting on the platform for his train home when she drunkenly suggested going outside for a cigarette.

They both went into the lift — and within a matter of seconds started to have sex after he suggested it.

Richard, who was discharged from the Army because of a knee injury, blamed his little sister, saying: 'This was the biggest mistake of my life.'

He insisted it was a drunk Kirsty who had initiated sex in the lift and said he just 'went along with it'.

The pair were convicted of committing incest under section 1(1) of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995.

PORTLAND -- A dispute between an East Portland man and his stepsons led to a reported assault with a pickup truck, then a fight with machetes, rakes, posts and pipes.

Police were dispatched about 8:30 a.m. Monday to 160th and East Burnside on a report of an assault with a knife.

Arriving officers learned of a fight between a man, 48, and several stepsons in the their late teens.

The stepsons started banging on the sides of the stepfather's pickup truck, then walked to the Burnside corner, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson.

The father drove to the corner, then struck three of the boys at a slow speed, Simpson said.

The father returned home, followed by the teens. The father pulled out a machete, hit one of the teens and the fight escalated with the rakes, PVC pipe and big posts, Simpson said.

The father was detained by police and the boys were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. There have been no arrests and the fight remains under investigation.

SEATTLE (AP) — An actress is suing Amazon.com in Seattle for more than $1 million for revealing her age on its Internet Movie Database website and refusing to remove the reference when asked.
KIRO-FM reports (http://bit.ly/oqHG0J ) the actress says Amazon's conduct amounts to fraud and breach of contract. She used Jane Doe in court documents filed last week and believes her personal information was taken after she used her credit card to purchase a professional subscription to IMDb.
The actress is from Texas but her hometown was not included in court documents.
The woman believes she has lost income because the information was posted. Her attorney says 40-year-old actresses are not in demand in the movie business.
Neither Seattle-based Amazon nor IMDb have commented on the claim.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KTLA) -- FAA officials are investigating a skydiving sex stunt involving two skydiving company employees who videotaped themselves during the "tandem" jump.

Video of the racy stunt was recently posted on the age-protected blog of Alex Torres, a porn star and weekend instructor at Skydive Taft in Bakersfield.

The footage shows Torres and receptionist Hope Howell having sex in a plane before jumping out, apparently continuing the act mid-air.

Torres, who also goes by the nickname Voodoo, has since removed the video -- but not before a teenager posted it to all his friends, according to FAA officials.

The video continued to spread amongst students, and parents eventually notified police.

Torres apparently filmed the video in hopes of catching Howard Stern's attention, KGET is reporting.

Police say no criminal charges will be filed because the sex was consensual and between two adults. No witnesses reported the stunt, so public nudity charges also do not apply, police added.

"Any activity that could distract the pilot while he's flying could be a violation of federal regulations," FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor said.

Torres has been fired from Skydive Taft, and the company's owner is still deciding whether to ax Howell.

"This shouldn't have happened. And it won't ever happen again, that's for sure," Skydive Taft owner Dave Chrouch told the station.

Crouch says the stunt was apparently performed early in the morning, before anyone else arrived.

A welcome home party in south Bethlehem for a teen recently released from juvenile detention turned into a large street fight that left five people with stab wounds, police said.
Bethlehem police responded to the 500 block of Hess Street around 11 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of gunshots in the neighborhood. Police found two people with stab wounds and took them to St. Luke's Hospital-Fountain Hill.
Three other people with knife wounds went to the hospital on their own.

An initial report from police said the party was in honor of a person released from a correctional facility, but it did not indicate the person was a juvenile.

Police said David M. Torres, 22, Gabriel Soto, 20, and Darren Linton, 21, all of Bethlehem, were admitted to the hospital. Torres' twin brother Michael and a 17-year-old juvenile were treated and released, police said.
Lt. Mark DiLuzio said five people, including a woman who is suspected of firing the weapon, were detained by police and later released.
DiLuzio said charges have not yet been filed because the investigation is ongoing.
DiLuzio said he does not know what sparked the fighting but the guest of honor was not among those injured or detained.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Moses Miler at 610-997-7674 or Detective Van Scott at 610-997-7676.

Dozens of animals — including bears, wolves, lions, tigers and cheetahs — escaped from an exotic animal farm Tuesday, and police began shooting them after finding the owner dead outside his home.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz issued a shoot to kill order to deputies and up to 25 animals were shot, NBC station WCMH of Columbus reported. Officials said dozens of animals could still be on the loose.

There were multiple sightings of exotic animals along Interstate 70. In addition to the carnivores, the animal farm also held giraffes and camels. Lutz's office warned residents near Kopchak Road and Interstate 70 to use caution and stay inside.

"These are wild animals that you would see on TV in Africa," Lutz warned at a press conference.

He called the escaped animals "mature, very big, aggressive" but said a caretaker told authorities the animals had been fed on Monday. He said police were patrolling the 40-acre farm and the surrounding areas in cars, not on foot, and were concerned about big cats and bears hiding in the dark and in trees.

Schools in the area were closed for Wednesday because of the danger.

"Any kind of cat species or bear species is what we are concerned about," Lutz said. "We don't know how much of a head start these animals have on us."

Lutz said his office started getting phone calls at about 5:30 p.m. that wild animals were loose just west of Zanesville on Kopchak Road, which runs under Interstate 70. Lutz said four deputies armed with assault rifles arrived to check on the owner and found animals outside their cages and others that had escaped past the fencing. The deputies began shooting them.

WBNS-TV of Columbus said bears and wolves were among the animals shot by authorities.

The body of Terry Thompson, owner of the farm, was found outside of his home, and Lutz said that every cage had been left open.

Lutz said his office had had issues with the owner in the past but did not elaborate on how Thompson died.

"This is a bad situation, its been a bad situation for a long time," he said.

Staff from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and the Wilds were on scene, hoping to tranquilize the animals and return them to safety. The sheriff said caretakers might put food in the animals' open cages to try to lure them back.

A plan for the Ohio State Highway Patrol to bring in an infrared-equipped helicopter was scuttled by bad weather, the Columbus Dispatch said.

Police set up a makeshift command post at the intersection of state route 40 and Kopchak Road. The Zanesville Times Recorder said patrols would continue overnight.

Ohio has some of the nation's weakest restrictions on exotic pets and among the highest number of injuries and deaths caused by them.

In the summer of 2010, an animal caretaker was killed by a bear at a property in Cleveland. The caretaker had opened the bear's cage at exotic-animal keeper Sam Mazzola's property for a routine feeding.

Though animal-rights activists had wanted Mazzola charged with reckless homicide, the caretaker's death was ruled a workplace accident. The bear was later destroyed.

This summer, Mazzola was found dead on a water bed, wearing a mask and with his arms and legs restrained, at his home in Columbia Township, about 15 miles southwest of Cleveland.

I wonder if maybe he suicided and left all the gates open on purpose? Maybe he was afraid they were going to shut him down soon....

Either way, I hope they capture as many of the animals as they can, Rather then kill.

Yeah, I was thinking that, too about suicide. But he had to know that his animals were going to be possibly killed or injured if he did that. That was an asshole move on his part. He must have been really pissed at everyone.

Mother made her six-year-old daughter video tape her having group sex with six different men

Authorities in Texas have charged a Dallas woman with forcing her 6-year-old daughter to repeatedly videotape her having group sex.

A 24-year-old mother made her daughter videotape her having self-described 'gang bangs' on three different occasions.

The woman's live-in boyfriend found out about the operation, which took place in the apartment the couple shared but when he was out of the house, from the girl herself.

'They took it too far,' the boyfriend said. The mother and the boyfriend's names are being witheld to prevent identification of the child.

According to reports, the mother held three so-called 'gang bangs' that she had her daughter film. Police are now looking over the tapes, and have yet to say whether the men involved will be charged with any crimes.

The mother was arrested Saturday and is charged with indecency with a child by exposure, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. She remains in jail on a $50,000 bond.

The mother has since told police her daughter used a cellphone to videotape three separate incidents involving six men, the newspaper reported.

The boyfriend, who said he had been 'with' the mother for two years.

'I got with her because she said that the baby was mine, she was my daughter,' the boyfriend said.

The girl is now in the care of the state.

'I hope her life is better than what it was,' the man said, after finding out that the girl is not his biological daughter.

A public defender listed in court documents as the woman's court-appointed attorney did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Marissa Gonzales, a spokeswoman for the state's Child Protective Services agency, said the 6-year-old was immediately placed in foster care after her mother's arrest.

'Physically, she's fine,' Gonzales said. 'But in any situation like this, where a child could need therapy, we will certainly work with (the child).'

The agency has launched its own investigation to determine whether the girl was the subject of abuse, she said.

A civil court hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 16 to determine whether there are any family members who are appropriate to provide the child with care, Gonzales said.

Gonzales said CPS investigated the mother shortly after the child was born to determine whether the infant had been neglected. That case was closed with a finding that there was insufficient evidence to determine abuse or neglect, she said.

PORTLAND -- A North Portland home was raided Tuesday after fliers throughout the neighborhood advertised drug sales at the address, police said.
Of the seven adults inside the home during the raid, six were arrested on various drug charges. A teenager in the home was placed in protective custody.
Early Tuesday morning police executed a search warrant at a home in the 3900 block of N Massachusetts Avenue, according to Lt. Robert King with the Portland Police Bureau.
Officers said they found nearly 20 grams of marijuana, more than 10 grams of heroin, a sawed-off shotgun, thousands of dollars in cash and the materials for a methamphetamine lab inside the home.
"The neighborhood response team began this investigation over a year ago because of numerous neighborhood complaints," King said. "At one point a neighbor gave officers an 8" by 10" flier found in the neighborhood that said 'Heroin for sale' and gave the address and the names of the dealers."
Neighbors were grateful that the investigation led to arrests.
"It was taxpayer money at work. It was great," said neighbor Doug Barrett. "It's what we've been longing for, so it was a great relief and we told them so."
"They came out smiling; they were happy to see us," said Sgt. John Birkinbine of the positive response from the neighbors. "A lady brought a bucket full of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies to us to tell us thank you. We felt like fire fighters for a few minutes. It was good."

Cause people are actually happy when firefighters show up.

I remember after some NYPD shooting mishap they were taking calls on NY1. People were saying they felt safer when they see a fireman than a policeman cause the cops are out of shape and poor shots.
According to the callers: firemen are built, and "less likely to miss with an ax."

(MSNBC) - A down-on-his luck elderly Oregon man has decided to hit the road and relocate almost a thousand miles to Quartzsite, Arizona - while riding his lawnmower tractor.
Stephen Hulsey, from Grant's Pass, Oregon, lost his job two years ago and has decided to move to greener pastures in Arizona.
However, Hulsey hasn't driven a car in over two decades as a result of his poor eyesight, so his mower is his only mode of transportation.
    Video courtesy MSNBC.com
Hulsey packed up his belongings, along with his dachshund named "LT," and left last Wednesday on his tractor, which only gets approximately fifteen miles to the gallon and travels four miles-per-hour.
"Unemployment's running out, so my trailer's gone," Hulsey said. "I just took my lawn tractor and my trailer and I hit the road."
Hulsey hopes to make it to the Arizona desert before Christmas

Body found in freezer may be woman missing since 1983
Body Found in Freezer May Be Woman Missing Since 1983

LEWISTON, Maine ? The body of a Maine woman missing for nearly 30 years is believed to have been found in the freezer of the now deceased man who originally reported her missing, The Bangor Daily News reported.
Kitty Wardwell was reported missing by her on-again, off-again boyfriend Frank Julian in July 1983 and was never seen again, the newspaper reported.
Julian died earlier this month, aged 80. Relatives were clearing out his storage unit when they came across human remains in a freezer Friday, authorities said.
"Remains have been found, but we don't know whose body this is definitively at this time," said Stephen McCausland, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman, adding that Julian had been renting the storage unit since 1992.
"We have put both families in the loop about the discovery and we have interviewed a number of members of both families, but the final determination will be made by the medical examiner."
Julian, a novelty salesman, reported Wardwell missing to Salem, N.H., police on July 11, 1983.
He told police he dropped the then 29-year-old woman off at a Salem motel after a fight and had traveled back to Maine without her, The Daily News reported.

Some bets just shouldn't be made.
Just ask a 21-year-old Vallejo man who made a $100 bet with his friends that he could fit into a baby swing at a local park.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the unidentified man -– who should be thanking police for not releasing his name –- lubed himself up with liquid laundry detergent and jammed himself into the kiddie swing's leg holes about 9 p.m. Friday.
But he got stuck, his legs swelled and he couldn't get out.
To make matters worse, his friends abandoned him.
The newspaper reported that nine hours passed before a groundskeeper heard him screaming for help at 6 a.m. the next morning.
Vallejo firefighters tried to free him, but ultimately took him to a hospital –- still in the swing.
"The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his body, but there's no word yet on the condition of his ego," the Chronicle reported.
Let's hope he collected his $100.

    What a dumb kid.

Baggage handlers get a little too intimate with one lady?s ?personal item?

Lawyer en route to Dublin finds naughty message in baggage left by security

    By CATHY HAYES,
    IrishCentral Staff Writer

A New York writer and lawyer got more that she bargained for in the form of a note from the Transport Security Administration (TSA) after a recent flight to Ireland.
The note commenting on a vibrator in the woman?s bag read ?Get your freak on girl?. When Jill Filipovic landed in Dublin she was shocked to see that someone had scribbled the message on the official printed note, intended to inform the passenger her bag had been opened.

She tweeted ?Just unpacked my suitcase and found this note from TSA. Guess they discovered a ?personal item? in my bag. Wow.?

Filipovic, a blogger for the website Feministe, wrote ?This is what TSA will do when they inspect a bag you checked and find a, um, "personal item? in an article with the headline ?Your tax dollars at work?.
