2 Russian women killed in Pattaya, Thailand 24 Feb 07

Two Russian women were killed while they were relaxing on the beach in Pattaya on 24th Feb 2007. The motive is still unclear but police are not ruling out that this is a 'hit'.

The victims, Miss Svirkova Liubov aged 25 and her friend Miss Tsimfer Tatiana aged 30, both Russian nationals, were in their beach clothes. Both were shot with a 9mm pistol. Miss Liubov received 4 bullets, one in her left arm and three in her abdomen, Miss Tatiana received one in the back, both were shot at close range. Items on their table included a mobile phone, a pack of cigarettes, and two small bottles of Thai whisky; footprints showed the gunman had been wearing combat type shoes.

There have been 11 murders of tourists in recent years and the rape and killing in 2000 of Kirsty Jones, 23, a Welsh student, remains unsolved.

killer captured on surveilance running away
The motive wasn't robbery. From what I can gather from eyewitness testimonies noted on the web-site/s, the two ladies headed to the beach at around 3am, sat down and moments later was attacked. The person was apparently 'waiting' for the two ladies hence the theory that this was a 'hit'.

He was captured on CCTV running away and escaping on a motorcycle. So far, the main suspect happens to be a tour-guide and he is in police custody
