i loved the incubator babies.  it will be interesting to see what kind of historically accurate fun things they will throw into this one.  

thought i'm pretty sure the boardwalk incubators were in NY not atlantic city...

I really liked it! I was hoping I would, and worried I wouldn't. I think it kicked ass, although, I am confused about exactly what the young boy gained from sending the whiskey to Chicago and was he working with Al Capone or what?  :| Gangsta movies and shows always take a while for me to understand the politics. Did they screw NY who tried to fuck Steve Buscemi? 

Also, why beat the wife beater to death and not just shoot him in the head?

Are you talking about Michael Pitt's character? He's not a young boy lol, he's the same age as Al Capone. They're setting him up as the new wave of the mob. They fucked over the Jewish gangster who DID fuck Steve Buscemi...unfortunately, Rothstein is a bigger deal, whereas the Buscemi character is a fledgling gangster.

Me too. But if we put on an outfit like that today, people would think we're crazy, or Morman. But really, men too, dressed so nice. No wife beaters or nikes, full on suits and shined shoes.

I'm guessing Nucky's his dad...not that the preview for next week's episode was too subtle. I admit, this episode was slower and I was way more interested in Jimmy's plot than Nucky's. Not because of Steve Buscemi but because I think we've already had a TV show that started out with a gangster who was in top form, where his only two threats are death or prison. I like the idea of watching someone thrive, watching the new crop.

And I love the Al Capone actor. They are killing it with that plot because it's a lot more historically accurate than a lot of films have been about Capone's psychoness. 

So far my only real peeves are 1. Capone beating the shit out of that reporter was funny/good/in character but also unlikely he would do such a thing without consequence.

2. Jimmy's dumb wife being like 'oh i could get a job and you could go to school.' Really? Are you not aware that it's 1920 and you could pretty much be a nurse, teacher, or stripper? And I mean it's 2010 and people are STILL fucked regarding daycare, I doubt it was easier then.

My Great Grandfather worked in Calumet City, IL during Prohibition for Al Capone. He was part of the "Polish Mob" that apparently were associates to Capone and his group.

It's cool to see the rise of Capone and Lucky Luciano.  Steve Buschemi is awesome as always.

Because Nucky is a fictional character loosely based on the real Nucky Johnson, in order to accommodate the liberties they want to take with his character.
