I THINK there is one......or maybe it was a depression thread. I would participate, for sure.....I am a survivor of 17 years (lost my husband to it) and it has been the longest and toughest journey of my life. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Seeing the recent rash of them makes me so sad for those families.

Annie, I know you've talked about this, I can't imagine what you have gone through (and are still experiencing, every day.) The depression thread was one of the reasons I went premie...but it went off the tracks into a discussion of transgender issues and sort of fizzled out...

Thanks MJ. This is a good one but the title is a little limiting (Suicide prevention/survivors)...I was thinking a more general thread for suicide, including links to news stories and a place for people to voice opinions on the subject. Emmieslost posted a good article in 'dumb things that make you happy' today that sparked some discussion...is there any way to start a general suicide thread and import these things into it? TIA!

Feel free to start one, crickets! Go to the sub- forum you want the thread in and there should be a start a new thread button at the top of the page... click there and go to town!

Ok! I just posted in a thread, and it didn't show up. Anybody gonna help me out? Am I asking for advice in the wrong place? Anyone?

It take a few posts before you start showing up on the thread....it's a precaution against spammers. Don't worry....everything you post will show up shortly. Welcome!

My best advice is to poke around.....see what threads appeal to you. Some threads are notorious for heated battles, so just tread lightly in those. Jodi Arias and Treyvon Martin come to mind. The more "heated" the topic, the more heated the thread can get. I've found that being respectful and sincere and non-combative is the best way to blend in. Not that I haven't had my head handed to me on a platter....we all have. There are some REALLY wonderful people on the site, and a few to steer clear of. You will figure that one out, pretty quickly.

Read the FAQ....the link is at the top of the page. There is a wealth of information there, as well!!

I just saw this and okayed your posts that were 'awaiting moderation' (as Annie said it is done that way to deter spammers of Ugg boots and Viagra everywhere!).

    Welcome to MDS.

Perseverance pays off when posting here - sometimes it takes more than 13 to 'seamlessly' integrate. *wink*

Its when people either agree with your post or disagree. You have to have at least 50 posts to see them, i think. and if you want to see who gave the rep or smite without them signing it you have to go premium.

    And welcome!

Well welcome none the less! I've been around since 2008 but only decided to make an account last year. That is what is so great about MDS....you can lurk for years!!

    Haha, very true.
I never even knew about the forums until earlier this year.
It's nice to know there is a website dedicated to posting the death of an individual (or group) and some form of a support group afterward.
MDS is like the in-between place, the place between death and life, having both and yet not having any of it fully.

If you put someone on ignore, does that also keep you from seeing smites or reps they've given you? I put someone on ignore, and wahla, now all their antagonistic smites have disappeared. Is this usual, or has my account been modified somehow?

I just tested by putting someone on my "Ignore list". They had recently repped me and once I had added them, I could no longer see the rep. So, apparently that does work!

Hi :) When people send you a lil message to say they like one of your posts, can you respond back to them? It's not in private messages, just in my settings?

If there is, I sure haven't figured it out.

You can not. Easiest way is via visitor message (on their profile) or just sending a fresh pm referencing the pm.
