Jeramy Thomas Schmitt died on July 26 at the age of 23; the cause of death was a swimming accident.

He was born in Oregon City on Oct. 25, 1986, to parents Tom and Kathy Schmitt; he graduated from OCHS in 2005.

He worked for GFP Enterprises as a forest firefighter and worked in Port Sulphur, La., for Hurricane Katrina relief, from 2005 to 2007. He most recently had been employed as a heat and frost insulator for Local #36.

He played football and baseball for OCHS, winning numerous awards, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, riding quads at the coast and training his Lab named Audrey for duck hunting.

When he was in Port Sulphur, he volunteered with and supported the high school baseball team.

He loved anything outdoors, and the most important things in his life were his girlfriend, Mandi Holmboe, and his friends.

His mother recalled that whenever he left the house, she told her son to be careful, and he always replied, “Careful’s not fun.” She added that he always loved to have fun and be with people.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his girlfriend, Mandi Holmboe.

A service was held on Aug. 3 at the Oregon City Evangelical Church.

Jeramy is a pretty different spelling for that name.  I found it an odd coincidence that another boy with the exact same name died about 5 years ago @ 18.  They were relatively close in age.

Ok, finally found something of semi-importance.  His best friends sister posted this on her facebook.  Apparently he dove into his girlfriends pool and hit the bottom hard, breaking his neck.
