Joran Van Der Sloot, 23, is being investigated by the death of Stephany Ramirez Flores, 21, daughter of well-known race car driver in Peru.
Military Police Investigations (PDI) arrested Joran Van Der Sloot, who is accused by Peruvian authorities as a dangerous criminal possibly linked to the death of the daughter of a businessman in Peru.
The Dutchman who has long been under suspicion in the 2005 disappearance of American Natalee Holloway, was pursued by authorities in South America, after police in Peru declared him the prime suspect in the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores.
According to sources the Dutch man was arrested in a taxi on Route 68, which connects Viña del Mar and Santiago, Chile.
The Dutchman is being held at the Foreign Department of Civil Police

Her brothers was just on the news and said they didn't know anything about him but looked him up on the internet when the hotel disclosed his name to them.

The other and just recent victim of van der Sloot, Stephany Ramirez, was found dead inside a room at the hotel Tac in Miraflores. She had been stabbed brutally and was found wrapped in a blanket. The hotel room was reportedly registered under van der Sloot’s name.

If he's smart, he will. Because that murder will take precedent and he'll be shipped back to Aruba to face trial. He's a lot better off going to jail there.

Why would that murder take precedent? Wouldn't the Peruvians have dibs on him first since this is the most recent murder and then Aruba would be able to seek extradition?

The United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama charged Joran Van der Sloot Thursday afternoon with extortion and wire fraud, saying the Dutchman promised information on Natalee Holloway's whereabouts in exchange for $250,000, reports CBS News affiliate WHNT in Huntsville, Ala. Van der Sloot, who has been the main suspect in the Holloway disappearance in Aruba five years ago, was arrested Thursday in the murder of a young woman in Peru. Stephany Flores, 21, was killed in a Lima hotel Sunday. Witnesses saw van der Sloot and Flores together in a casino over the weekend and again, entering the hotel room together around 5 a.m. Sunday, reports CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano. Natalee Holloway's father told WHNT it was big relief that Van der Sloot was caught.
"There's no doubt van der Sloot's a bad kid," said Dave Holloway. "He screwed up and he needs to be locked up somewhere."
