Judith A. Paluba, 66, of Cayuga Plaza died peacefully Saturday, June 5, 2010 at her residence.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late James and Joanna Purcell Valente. Judy was educated in Albany schools and was a 1961 graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School. In her earlier years, she had worked at the Bank of Albany and volunteered for the Waterford Youth Council and the Waterford Rescue Squad. She was also a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford, belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America and was an avid line-dance teacher.

She and her sister carried on the legacy of the former Dipsy Doodle Ice Cream Parlor.

Judy was the loving mother of Maj. Michael J. Paluba Jr. USAF of Seoul, Korea; sister of Joanna Valente of Mechanicville and grandmother of Nicholas K. Palu-ba, Alex K. Paluba, and Megan C. Paluba, all of Carmel, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford and at Noon at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home office.
