It's vinyl, but I gotta get in the crevices so the house is clean, it's so dirty where the oven is, cos my kids are slobs, that needs to be scrubbed with something?
Comet would scratch it I would think. No wonder it leaves it dull. You probably scrubbed off all the shiny top coat.

King poops on the carpet and I really don't have time to shampoo every week.
You gotta look at why the dog is doing it, too. If you don't have time to take the dog out because of your work schedule it might be time to consider rehoming the dog. It's not likely that you're going to be doing anything less labor intensive than shampooing if you want to get the smell out completely, kwim?

My dyson is the best vacuum cleaner ever.  it has lasted over 4 years... with ten animals no problems. *knocks on wood*

yeah I actually love telling people about my Dyson.

i have the dyson animal dc14, as well, and LOVE it! with a super sheddy cat and an even sheddier pug, it's the only vacuum that's been able to keep the fur under control.

I would try a degreaser like Pine Sol before I used Comet.  I only use Comet on my stainless steel kitchen sink!

LOL I've been overscrubbing, my tile has lil crevicices that you have to get down on your knees with a brush and it sucks. All the houses we're looking at have hardwood floors throughout, that makes me happy. So much easier to keep clean, just use the swiffer wet jet and I don't have to wrestle with the vacuum all of the time.

Not a chance in fucking hell. That would be like re-homing my child after having them for 3 years
We actually have a friend's son that jogs by our house to take him out 3 days a week when we both are gone for long hours. Other than those days, he's home alone for about 6 hours.
I don't mind a little bit of a smell of course but I just feel like it's super intense right now.

There's no way I'd put up with a pooping dog.  Any smell of poop is too much.  Why not crate him while you're gone?  Dogs don't poop in their crates.

my doggies are crate trained and thank god for that.

TFD, he might be whizzin and poopin places because he smells his past markings.  if you don't get it out very well, they will likely mark again.  i would also see if there is something going on with him physically to make him poo in the house.  i know for us we have a routine.  we only put out what they eat and i immediately put their bowls up afterwards.  i leave their water out but not past 9 pm.  i potty them about that time and then no accidents at night.  can you try retraining him maybe with treats as a kick start?

might be worth trying.

If he has to go bad enough he will. So I would rather leave him out.

Yeah, he only poops when we're not home and never pees. So I think he just has to go really bad. I'm hoping that the friend's kid taking him out will help. We reward him with treats if we come home and there's no poop.
I think there is something that takes the smell out of the carpet so they won't mark there any more. Can anyone think of what it is called?

Re: Home cleaning and laundry tips

My Labrador is my main cleaning nemesis.  Thank goodness the only times he pooped inside (2x) was on the linoleum in the dinette room.  It is his dog hair that is killing me.  I vacuum daily and my 2 year old vacuum blew up yesterday! Now I am stuck on my hands and knees, using my small dirt devil rolling canister.
So how much did these Dyson's run?

If I had pet, I wouldn't use anything else. It's AMAZING shit. Not only will it remove odors, but it kills germs.
It has a nice fresh scent to it, too.

Odor out the same. I have never used microban, though.

I think there are a few really good products, as long as it has the bacterial killer enzymes.

MicroBan is used in hospitals, too. I went on a couple of water jobs  and totally sprayed myself down with MicroBan when I was done.

I agree with you on the enzymes, too, though.

I feel your pain.  I think my dogs are getting their winter coat and there is hair EVERYWHERE.  In the past 24 hours I have vacuumed three times.  :shootself:

In response to the floor cleaning stuff - I have never seen Murphy's Oil Soap here so I dont think we get it.

I have also discovered the joys of fabric softener - I have always been a throw the soap in and that's it but I bought litres of the stuff and everything smells so good.

Your roommate needs to grow a sense of humor.  :-P

So it's a tiny dog.
im dissappointed in you.  you know that even though its a small dog, you still need a decent sized hammer.  you gotta lay the smack down or the little fuckers just get up and gnaw you to death.

i say use this:

and because i know this will cause the area to be messier, i reccommend this:

I was trying to placate the roommate who is clearly a pussy. A dog that small you can actually just step on, but the chainsaw is a nice touch.  :2huh:
