Well, my friend, yesterday was the first time I ever became an officially member on the MDS forum. It took a long time for me to finally realize that I do want to join in.

Re: How did you find mydeathspace?

I found MDS through searching for information on the Kat McGrath/Alyn Thomas case. I'm intruiged by the case and can't wait till it goes to trial and more information comes out about it.

Whilst reading the Alyn Thomas thread someone mentioned a likeness to the "Jodi" case, which lead me to the Jodi Arias case and I was hooked - I read all 198 pages!! Crazy.

Since then I've been back on a daily basis, this kinda thing is perfect for me, I have a natural curiousity for these things, and actually earlier this year managed to find out not only who someone in a protected identity case - and not only that but in the craziest crime case I/most people have ever heard of, but also who he is under his new identity now and found his facebook! It was such a buzz piecing it all together and 'solving' something 'unsolved' so to speak. But kind of fell flat after that because once I had the info, and had found him, there was nothing left to do!

Like alot of people, I found it after Anna Svidersky's murder. I was searching the net and found the site, and I've been on it pretty much everyday since! Just recently got around to joining, though. :)

I have no idea how I found it..but it was a long time ago.  I remember at first I just read the articles then I realized people were discussing them and I was addicted.  I think I have read every death on here...seriously...I look a few times a week to see the new ones.

I came across this site looking for a girl who had died on the day of Houston Gay Pride 2008. I tried to save her, but she died anyway.

This place has helped with my grief on the matter.

    What happened?
    [/quote]

2008 was a bad year for Gay Pride in Houston--people broke through the barriers, crowded the marchers--it was the biggest Pride the city had ever had, and there weren't enough facilities.

While trying to get away from the crowd, I tripped over a girl my age sitting on the curb with her head in her hands. I bent down, tried to talk to her. She looked aweful--I'd never seen that shade of grey on a person before.

She couldn't speak more than to ask me to find her girlfriend, so I called 911, grabbed a friend to watch her, and took off in the crowd, asking folks if they had lost someone. About 300 yards out in each direction I couldn't find anyone who had, so I went back to her. At this point, the business owners of the shop she's sitting in front of dump a gigantic inflatable pool into the parking lot. The dirty water washes into the street, and we all jump back.

The girl chooses that moment to pass out face-forward into the water. I yelled for help, scooped her out of the water, and start screaming for people to help me get her over the barrier.

I'm getting a little choked, so forgive any grammar errors.

Anyway, four of us had her, and we hauled her over the barrier and kinda frog marched her through the parking lot. It's swarming with people and I just kinda knock them all out of the way. We get her acroos the street to a strip of median and lay her on the grass. Someone's gtot a bottle of water, but she can't drink it. I hand her a cell but she can't dial anyone. She couldn't even tell us her name.

It took the ambulance 40 minutes to travel 30 feet through the crowd. No one would get out of the way. Everyone wanted beads from the marchers.

Anyway, they finally get to her, strap her in. She's translucent at this point. We don't have a name for her so one friend gives the emt a cell to reach her. The ambulance takes her away. I stumble home, exhausted, and try not to think about it.

A year later, Gay Pride, my friends that helped out that night are sitting in their same place on the parade route. The one who gave her cell, says to me "Didja hear? She died later that night. They called to tell me because they thought we knew her."

I searched for an obit, and found Elizabeth Matamoros, who died that same day. Same age, about, same look to her.

    Changed my life.

That's not her. There are two in Houston. Her sister has a myspace, but I can't find it anymore. The full obit made mention of who succeeded her; listed two sisters. I found one's myspace but didn't dare contact her. This was almost a year ago, of course, but seeing your forum rules, I'm glad I didn't.

What bothered me most at the time is that neither my mother nor my boyfriend understood why I cared for the death of some stranger. I've always been the type to do so, though, and moreso because this death in particular was so personal. Hence my pleasure at finding a site with a bunch of other people who also care about the deaths of strangers... :2wave:

Since I have been here, I have submitted friends and family. I submitted a cousin and my family was trying to cover up the COD. I felt it was important to tell the truth.
