Marking my spot, will try to find more info in a bit.

I think it's a little weird that her brother is dead as well. Usually people this young don't have siblings that have died already. :/

Jessica lost her battle with cystic fibrosis and Joshua was killed in an accidental shooting. Absolutely unimaginable for their parents. My heart goes out to them.

GIRL SCOUTS WORKING IN OUR COMMUNITY - February 10, 2010

On January 8, the Junior Girl Scout troop organized and worked a benefit spaghetti dinner for Sabrina Matthews, one of the troop’s members who underwent open heart surgery on January 5. The benefit was held at the American Legion in Luzerne. The American Legion was very gracious in their help with cooking and serving. It was a great success and the troop is very grateful to the community for their outreach to Sabrina and her family.

PENNY POWER - The Junior Girl Scout troop of Mio is working toward their Bronze Award. The requirements for this award include learning about a cause and working to help that cause. They have chosen the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation after the death of Jessica Chartier in December, who had suffered from the disease her entire life.

The girls in the troop have spend some time learning about Cystic Fibrosis and have planned a fundraising campaign to raise money for the Foundation. Be looking around the community for Penny Power for Cystic Fibrosis containers. Of course any denomination of money will be accepted, but pennies are always lying around, right? Look in your car, your purse, your couches…..find those pennies and drop them off. The drive will go through the end of February.

Holly teen arraigned in accidental shooting

ROSE TOWNSHIP, Michigan – Eight days after responding to an apparent shooting on Holly Shores Drive, Michigan State Police arrested a Holly teen believed to be responsible for the accidental death of his 16-year-old cousin.

On July 18, Joshua M. Chartier was visiting his cousin when the shooting occurred. Detective Sgt. Gary Muir of the Groveland Post said Chartier was using his cell phone to take pictures of his cousin, Alexander Wagner, 18, who was pointing a 9 mm pistol directly at the camera. The gun accidentally discharged, hitting Chartier in the face and killing him instantly.

Muir said the boys were friends, and that Wagner had attempted to provide First Aid at the scene.

Wagner, 18 was released on a $50,000 personal bond after his Monday arraignment on a charge of careless discharge of a firearm causing injury or death. The misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 28.
