depending on what you drink. if its beer, then yeah. liquor like vodka, then no. i know some alcoholics who are actually quite skinny.

I'm a terrible person because I always want to punch the people on Intervention. That is not my show of choice, but my daughter likes to watch it (she's studying psychology in school and finds all human behavior fascinating). But watching it makes me want to punch them all in the face.

I took a women's studies class in which she asked us to visualize a homeless person. Most people thought of a white male. But most homeless people are women and children, you just don't see them because they're in shelters trying to do something about it. The ones you see spanging on the street, most of them do have substance abuse and/or mental problems.

Intervention's done a ton of episodes on anorexics and bulemics. I usually veer between feeling really sorry for people on that show and thinking they're huge assholes. The worst episode I ever saw besides the drunk dad who finally sobered up, found out he had rapidly spreading terminal cancer, and died before the show aired, was a girl with severe arthritis whose retard parents thought she was a drug addict because her muscle relaxants made her nod out, and basically the intervention ended up being for them for being morons.
