WATERBURY- Miss Jalisa A. Adorno, 20, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday September 17, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Born in Waterbury on February 25, 1989, Jalisa was the daughter of Dawn Thomas of Waterbury and Marcos Adorno of New York City. Raised in Waterbury by her mother and step father Nestor Berrios, she graduated from Kennedy High School in 2007 and was currently attending Post University. She was employed at Dunkin Donuts on Meriden Rd. where she was recently promoted to shift leader. Jalisa was very outgoing, had a great sense of humor, loved music, dancing and spending time with her friends and family.
Besides her parents she is survived by her sisters Alicia and Amada Adorno of Waterbury, Leilani Adorno of New York City, her paternal grandparents Carmen and Nelson Hernandez, her maternal grandparents Adelaide Thomas and Manuel Velez all of Waterbury, her maternal great grandmother Laure Bailey of Bristol. She will also be missed by her aunts and uncles John, Krystle, Manny, Jesus, Nancy, Ricky and Carmelo. She is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family, friends, her longtime boyfriend and soulmate Luis Rosario of Waterbury and Justin Smith who was always there when she needed him.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather John Thomas Sr. and her paternal grandfather Carmelo Adorno.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Tuesday 9:30 AM at The Shrine of St. Anne 515 South Main St. in Waterbury. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 8 PM at The DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott.
Jalisa was a bright and cheerful person and the family requests that no black attire be worn to her services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association 45 Ash St. East Hartford, CT 06108-3273.
