An Olympic weightlifter has given birth to a baby during a training session without realising she was pregnant.
Chile's Elizabeth Poblete gave birth to the three-month premature baby boy after admitting that she felt 'unwell' whilst training in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo.
The baby weighed only 2.2 pounds at birth and remains in intensive care in hospital.
Ms Poblete, 22, has since discharged herself from the Sao Paulo hospital, saying she could not afford further treatment.
The hospital denies it forced her to leave after she could not afford to pay her bill.
Poblete, who came 12th in her category in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, says she was 'shocked' to learn that she was pregnant.
The head trainer at the gym expressed his surprise at the situation saying: 'I could see she was a big girl, round and strong. That's all I noticed.'
