ASTORIA, Ore. -- The father of an Astoria infant was arraigned Friday for the boy's death after he passed out on top of the child, according to the Daily Astorian.
Prosecutors said 28-year-old Cameron Michael Rogers was "highly intoxicated" when he passed out on top of six-week-old Calvin Rogers. They were sleeping in the same bed at the home in the RV park at 38th Street and Lief Erikson Drive, according to the newspaper.
Rogers was charged with criminally neglegent homicide and faced 70 months in jail. Prosecutors said they did not think the death was intentional.
The Astorian reported the boy's mother, Selena Mae Sam, was in jail at the time of the infant's death after being arrested for assault, menacing and minor in possession of alcohol Thursday.
