Movies and TV based on true crime

Discuss/link favorite Lifetime movies or Law and Orders based on real court stories here. I'm a fan of the Lifetime movie about the insane bitch who murdered her husband and his new wife after driving a car into the side of their house.

According to wiki her first parole hearing comes up in March 2010.

I know she's nuts and guilty and all, but he's a really hard guy to feel sorry for.

I changed the title of this topic to be more well-rounded.

Monster, Boys Don't Cry, Alpha Dogs, etc.

I admit that I think Boys Don't Cry is tedious.

The Girl Next Door and An American Crime are based on the Sylvia Likens murder.  I haven't made it through The Girl Next Door all the way, but I can say I prefer An American Crime just because the actress in The Girl Next Door looks way too old.

I made the mistake of watching the movie Seabiscuit before reading the book...

After that, I pretty much have sworn off any "based on a true story" movies.  Contrived Hollywood crap, pretty much across the board.

I actually think one of the most interesting and inventive True Crime movies I ever saw was Hollywoodland, about the mysterious death of the first Superman, George Reeves. There was never any resolution to the murder, but the film explores the various possibilities as well as the emptiness and dissatisfaction of Reeve's life, paralleling it with the life of the detective investigating his death.

Excellent film, and I never though this sentence was possible but Ben Affleck is fantastic in it.

I really enjoy the first 48 although most of the murders are gang related. I think detective Mason is the best! How she looks so good (and wears those heels) after a 48 hour shift with no sleep and buckets of coffee is beyond me!

I always wonder if the first 48 is like, masturbation material for white supremacists because 98% of the time, the murderer is a black dude.

If you havent already, try to watch the American Justice episode titled "Payback For a Bully" about the case.  YouTube has some AJ eppy's so i would start there.  I luckily copped it on VHS via e-bay like 5 years ago.  It really puts the movie into context as it invetrviews the real Lisa and Ally (sp?), has actual crime scene photos (including Kent's dead body face down in the swamp), and interviews with key players in the case.

The movies I am not so concerned with.
The glorification of crime and underworld activities in government worries me more. Thats is more a crime. our country right now is full of political corruption.. and corrupting if more like a crime.

I love Discovery Channel ID. There is always something very interesting on. I have seen 3 episodes of Deadly Women. The hour long show profiles four famous cases of history's most alluring female killers. It's worth a watch.

I saw that recently. It was pretty good. I'm tired of the same old shows over and over on American Justice and TruTV.

It's timely that this thread got bumped, because my roommate has been working with the costume designer for the America's Most Wanted crime recreation scenes all weekend. Also: that show is still on the air. Who knew?

Okay, I lied. I don't get that channel so I'm not sure what I watched, but it was profiling women killers and interviewing them in prison. I wish I did get that channel. It looks like stuff I'd love.
