They removed 8,000 pounds of trash from her house. 8,000 fucking pounds. That is insane to me. Also she was a selfish bitch and I was so annoyed that she was able to just sit on her porch snacking away while all of these people were cleaning out her nasty ass house. Ugh. That show makes me mad.

    Also, I love Pawn Stars.

I love that he pretty much tries to buy everything no matter what. Like it doesn't matter what it is or where they got it, he wants to buy it. I wonder why they let him do any buying at all.

I am SO down for a trade, I would have so much more time in my life if I had someone as insane as I am about the order of things in the home...

although the little one is my favorite, she has her own cleaning bucket and I bought her a little vacuum for xmas...I will train one of them to be neurotic  if it's the last thing I do!!!!

The problem with Hoarders is that unlike Intervention, I never feel like anyone has a chance of getting any better. Yeah, their house is clean but they're not being treated for the obvious psychological problems they have, and they're just left to fill their house with shit again.

The two things I've noticed is that most of the people are obviously suffering from severe mental illness, while others are clearly filling a void after suffering the loss and abandonment of family. They've made their lives so unpleasant as to unintentionally prevent anyone from wanting to reach out to them.

My step dad's mom was a hoarder and she was certainly insane. She also never recovered from two miscarriages she suffered when she was younger. And my halfbrother's mom is a hoarder, but she's also severely bipolar/borderline schizo.

You slept with mike so he would ban me. change your sig..the pretentious look how hipster face is so old ooh you like guys with glasses..ooooh

Bowie, did you see the episode where the couple lost their kids? CPS said she had to clean out the house and get therapy. She had tons of shit in every room, and lots of bags of shit she never unpacked. They cleaned up, but something was going on with the therapy. That was the first time I ever noticed therapy being discussed. Apparently, it didn't go well and the father filed for divorce and got one kid back and was in the process of getting the other.

This season, Hoarders is offering psychological after-care.  Augustine is seeing a shrink now.  I agree that hoarders are all nuts; the hoarding is just a symptom of their illness and it makes for good entertainment.

    Re: Hoarders

Love this show!  So depressing really.  Most of them seem utterly incapable of caring about anything other than their treasures.  Like last night's with Augustine down in Gretna, LA. . .she truly thought it was her right to have everyone do all that work for her.  And she was so ugly to her children, I couldn't believe it.  And anyone who loses animals in their house. . .I just don't understand that.  I know that old couple in Arizona were at least sympathetic and seemed to care about their animals but Augustine never demonstrated any type of affection for anything, not even the shit in her house.

That's good. Augustine reminded me a lot of my step-dad's mom. I can't really watch that show too much because it's already too weird how hoarding has been a thing in my life. I have to do like, forced cleanses where I get rid of weird shit because I get so paranoid that I'm going to be one of those gross people. My step-dad, when he and my mom first dated, totally lived in a house with people like that. Just stacks of old mail and newspapers and paths made through the trash. One of them told me once that she couldn't find any toilet paper so she blew her cooch dry with a hair dryer. :|

Yeah, after moving around a lot, I learned to just not care about shit at all.

I can't understand how people live in filth like that. How do you not notice your cats are missing? I mean, 'animal lover'? I don't think so.

It makes me so mad that they allow those people to own pets after witnessing that shit.

I agree.  After 5 moves in 7 years (2 cross country) it's hard to imagine holding on to anything that long.  I mean, some of these people have been holding on to mail for 15+ years!  The one that was on after Augustine last night had the chick from Milwaukee who was a food hoarder.  That was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen (until last night's bathroom!).

I'm bipolar and I have almost the opposite problem.  I hold on to very little and go through binges where I chuck out mass quantities of stuff.

Also, last night's was really gross because I lived in Louisiana for 6 years and I know how quickly things mildew and rot and smell and how big the roaches really are and gross!

I'm completely insane , I just don't get down with the fancy labels, I can never remember my mother having the issues she is displaying now, but it must have been present, I have a SERIOUS problem with clutter ,I can't handle it, I hyperventilate, it's really bad...if there are things out of order for too long or things start to pile up, like kids rooms etc, I get WAY antsy and start having almost panic attacks...fortunatly my family loves me and tries hard to keep their shit in check cos they know if I lose it, the black garbage bags are coming out and they may have a bare room before the end of it....

I'm married to a collector and there are times when I flip out because his displays are taking over too much of the house.  I do the same thing with my books.  I gather them up for a while and then BAM!  Anything that doesn't fit on a shelf has to go.  In retrospect, I think it is kinda insane.

omg you guys, what if I'm becoming horders? I can never let go of furniture. My dad always bought really expensive furniture and when I was pregnant I put all of the bedroom furniture in the basement storage to make room for Cash's nursery. then I redid my sisters room, put all her furniture in the basement and gave her my dad's old bedroom set. I have like 3 nice and pretty new wardrobes, 3 plantation style beds, 2 dressers that match the beds, mirrors, chairs, a dining room set, a desk, and 4 tv's in the basement. None of them are more than 5 years old.

I just keep redecorating and putting the old shit in the basement. Great! pretty soon there are going to be dead fucking cats and shitty toilet paper all over the place. uUuuhhhhH

This is such a worry for me!
I totally hoard. My only saving grace is that I hoard clean things that I pack away. I have crates of stuff all packed up and sealed that I dont even look at. I have every card given to me in my life since I was 9 years old .
I refuse to have a newspaper delivered, for fear I will create a pile that will eventually fall on me in my old age
