LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ken Ober, who hosted the 1980s MTV game show "Remote Control" and helped produce the shows "Mind of Mencia" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine," has died. He was 52.

His agent, Lee Kernis, says Ober was found dead Sunday in his Santa Monica home. Kernis says Ober complained of headaches and flu-like symptoms on Saturday night but the cause of his death wasn't clear.

Ober hosted five seasons of "Remote Control" beginning in 1987. Contestants in lounge chairs were asked pop-culture questions from categories such as "Dead or Canadian?" The show featured early appearances by comedians Adam Sandler, Denis Leary and Colin Quinn.

Ober, who was born Ken Oberding in Massachusetts, is survived by his parents and a brother.

Ken Ober, host of MTV’s Remote Control, died Sunday at the age of 52. The cause of death has not been announced but according to his agent, he was found dead in his home. On Saturday morning, he spoke with his friend, who was the last person with he spoke, complaining of a headache and flu-like symptoms. Friend advised him to take some medicine and consult with a doctor as soon as possible.
Adam Sandler told MTV News that Ken Ober was one of his best friends. He was a sweet, sharp and a quick guy. Dennis Leary released a statement saying

” Denis Leary also got his start on the show, and released a statement saying: “Kenny Ober was and always will be the quickest wit in the room… a smart, fast and hilarious human being who made many of us, including myself, laugh until we cried. As the star and host of Remote Control, he was a welcoming ringmaster who helped to kickstart the careers of numerous talents, including Adam Sandler, Colin Quinn and myself. He will be remembered always by each of his friends not only for his massive talent but for his true, deep and enduring friendship.”

Although the death causes have to be determine yet but there is no chance of a suicide attempt. It was a natural death."

Update: The Comic's Comic is reporting that Ober has indeed died of a heart attack. Apparently he missed a show over the weekend, and concerned friends called 911. Emergency services found him at his home. Zap2It has posted that Ober's rep has confirmed the news as well. The New York Times claims that Ober had complained of "headache and flu-like symptoms" on Saturday, the night before he died. No matter what the actual cause of death is, this is very sad news.
