Merle Edward Casey II, 22, of Roanoke, Va., passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009. He was born April 5, 1987, in Roanoke, Va. Those left to cherish his memory are one son, Josiah Tai Casey; father and stepmother, Merle (Marva) Casey; mother, Danette Casey; three sisters, Katina (Mike) Hamlar, Love Pate and Troyleena Pate; one brother, Mark T. Casey; grandparents, Alma Richie, Kathleen Pate and Daniel Hale; four aunts, Donna Pate, Barbara Reynolds, Cheryl (Douglas) Poindexter and Andrea (Billy) Buffalo; two uncles, Donald (Lillian) Casey, Robert (Karen) Pate and a special friend, Sheena Wilmer. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be noon Tuesday, August 18, 2009, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with Bishop Frank English officiating and the Rev. Thomas A. Woods Sr. eulogist. The interment will be in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Friends may call on Monday afternoon August 17, 2009, for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.

Merle we are cousin but, I think of you as a brother.

Why?

That's what we ask. The truth is, we may never be able to know for sure why.

But we do know that there is no single "should have done" or "could have done" or "did" or "didn't do" that would have changed that why.

All the love could do was done.

A rapper called Kryces made it, Kryces is from Roanoke, VA, as far as I can tell. Also the pictures and those of the Myspace seem to be the same Merle: http://www.myspace.com/146729239. Cheyenne Lackey has comments on both the Myspace and the video.

Kryces says what happened to Merle:

Merle Casey was the closes thing Kryces had as a Brother. In 2009 a bloodclot traveled from Merle's leg and hit his heart and he died instantly.
