I can't find out how he died. I am guessing suicide though because I read a comment somewhere on the pages about how he always looked so happy..

This blog at http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=418789 &blogID=177687474 says that he did the day after celebrating his birthday. Brian has another Myspace page that seems more active at:

Off to read.

I think suicide.. His sister's blog says -

Friday, January 12, 2007

Check out this video: How to save a life

That's it - no other blogs, no explanation so I figure it must have some relevance to her. Unless I am just reading too much into it but suicide is my feeling.

I'm not a fan of that song~~is it really about a friend's suicide?
I keep seeing references to it on dead people's pages and their friend's comments about it.

I could Google it, but I'm feeling pretty lazy right now.

I don't know what it is written about but it sounds like it's about suicide to me

'Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life '

"the story i heard was he had taken some sort of pill (i believe, but i can't be sure) and then he drank. i guess it was the combination. others say it was from steroids but i don't believe that."

Still working on it.

sorry its a little late...
"The song How to Save a Life was influenced by Isaac Slade's experience working as a mentor at a camp for troubled teens. 'One of the kids I was paired up with was a musician. Here I was, a protected suburbanite, and he was just 17 and had all these problems. And no one could write a manual on how to save him."

I'm pretty sure you can take that song anyway you want, be it drugs, suicide, or any type of destructive behavior.

Off his memorial site:

sorry to see you go / Jay Proto (Friend) Read >>

sorry to see you go / Jay Proto (Friend)
I hadn't really spoken to Billy in 16 years or so, but I remember when we were young... Him, me, and Joey playing in my turtle sandbox in the back yard. I never really thought that such a short time from then he would leave. I feel like every time I think of this I am still in shock, like it hasn't really sunk in that he's actually gone.

I extend my most sincere apologies to his family and friends. I can't imagine what you must be going through.

Heh..

Re: Brian Wallen

This can't be about him, can it?

Kat: I kept a dream diary for years. I actually still do but not as religiously as I did. My dreams are so stunning, I dream in all 5 senses. His name was Brian Wallen, and he and I went to college together. He was another guitar player. He got a particularly viralant form of cancer when he was very young and when he died I wasn't anywhere around. When I was back in town I looked up his phone number and his wife's name was there. About 6 months later, I had the dream I described in the song. It was an in between place. It looked like a flat metal ground, forever. It was a lucid dream. Sometime in the middle of it I realized "This is possible" I said "I'm prepared to believe that this is really you, so tell me before I wake up, tell me that you are OK" He said, "Belive it, it is really me" and I woke up. Since that time, anyone I've ever loved who had died I have dreamed about in a pretty dramatic way. But not as dramatic as that. He was very young and it was very tragic, so that was a great thing that happened after a very hard thing.

Oooh, Olivia -- this is another one of your death's where the birthday is close! He died the day after his birthday -- which means that maybe he did it the night OF his birthday and was found dead the next day?

I think it's weird that Linkin Park's "In the End" is playing on his memorial page. Anyone else?
