Hans Eric Wurtz, 25, Liberty, Mo., died July 19, 2009, in Kansas City, Kan.

He was born Oct. 7, 1983, in Overland Park, the son of Scott Wayne and Mary Kay Walters Wurtz. He grew up and attended school in Spring Hill.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chuck and Fern Walters.

Survivors include his father, Scott Wurtz of Collegeville, Pa.; his mother, Mary Callaway of Paola; a brother, Ben Wurtz of Trenton, Mo.; a stepbrother, Michael Enright of Lyndon, Kan.; a sister, Nicole Enright of Pomona; a stepsister, Maria Lagutkina of Landsdale, Pa.; and grandparents, Willie Wurtz of Pleasanton and Carol and Norman Minden of Paola.

Cremation. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Fontana Cemetery.

He was the victim of a homicide.  Sadly, it appears to still be unsolved.

"To all that will read this update:

The cause of death was multiple gun shot wounds, my brothers murders are still at large and the detectives are working hard to help us in every way but for some reason they have hit a bump that is why my family has increased the reward the way we did with our hard earned money not from other charities. Your help and information is and will be appreciated! With the help from the community and veiwers like your self maybe our family can find justice and prevent another senseless murder from happing again ."
