A man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in the death of Maegan Holder, a 17-year-old DeLeon High School senior, killed in a car accident on April 15.
Aaron Smith, 21, of DeLeon, was arrested Sunday and remains incarcerated in the Comanche County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.

According to the DeLeon Free Press, Smith’s blood-alcohol level tested above the legal limit. Although police were initially unsure of who was driving the vehicle when it T-boned a truck on US Highway 16, an investigation indicated that Smith was behind the wheel, the Free Press reported.
Holder was a member of the high school basketball team and reportedly loved playing sports. Smith was a graduate of DeLeon High School and suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
If convicted, Smith faces two to 20 years in prison.
