Need ideas for headwear with a tux...

As most of you know, my son was in a car accident last Saturday.  This Saturday is the prom.  He will be wearing a black tux with a yellow vest with "diamonds" on the vest.  He will still have staples in his head and at this point has refused to let me shave the rest of his hair off.  His hair is dirty since we cant wash it.  I really don't want for him to wear a plain black beanie and I cant think of anything else.  If he were a girl, it would be so easy to make a head piece.  Ideas? The staples go from his hair line over his left eye all the way back to his crown.

If we have to do the beanie, what are some tasteful ways to dress up the beanie?

First, I would make sure that they allow headwear and will allow him to keep it on during the prom.  They are so funny about things these days.

I would do a classic black fedora - with a ribbon hatband and a snazzy feather.

Or maybe a yellow beanie to match the vest and maybe add a black hatband around the flipped up part of the beanie??

I would call the formalwear shop and ask for their suggestions, too!

Or you can draw another set of staples on him and he can go to the Franken-prom.

Yes.  They will allow him headwear.  He has a doctor's note.
Those are great ideas, NQ.  THANKS!

I agree with the fedora or maybe even a top hat.

OOOOOO...Thanks Cap and TC9.  I am going to the formawear shop in a bit to see what they have.
I never even thought of the top hat.

Just incase you can't use something to cover his head, they have "dry shampoo" now.  You put some of the powder on his head and brush it through. It'll soak some/all of the grease up.

The fedora is a great complement to a tuxedo but always keep in mind that it doesn't work for anyone.

Maxim magazine puts forth a great rule of thumb that the wider the face, the wider the brim. English and Australians pull off their crocodile dundee look but Swedes need to stick with a fedora AT MOST.

Best of luck! I'm sure he'll pull off any look you give him and have a ball at the prom.
