Thanks for the input ladies! I stopped in at Home Depot for a minute on my way to get the station to look, just for a minute. I beeped when I went in, WTF? The guy just shrugs his shoulders and says "good morning?" lol.

Found some pretty ones, going to also need some ceramic pots to put them in (holy shit, those prices). I will probably try Lowe's next week with my mom, it just hit me that she loves this kind of stuff.

Make sure you use pots that have drainage in the bottom (most do), decent soil. I would say to avoid Miracle Grow because they usually come with gnats and pests already in the bag, but since you're not doing a lot of gardening iv think that's all you'll be able to get in the small bags. With our heat lately, I would wait until fall. They'll just die right now. I'm having to water twice per day just to keep some of mine alive right now. The rest were taken out by the heat.

Or plant cacti... or you could irrigate.

My friend has the cutest drip system for her patio plants.

One good thing about Lowes and HD is that they give you a year warranty on plants, so even if it dies you can get your money back or get a replacement.

Yeah, I usually cut back the dead stuff and keep it all watered and hope for the best over the summer. The only things that do well in this heat are succulents and cactus like Puzz mentioned and you said that you didn't want those. If you're looking for flowers, they'll be nice for maybe a few weeks then will dry out and die right now. I'd wait until October TBH. That's when I usually replenish the flowers and the ones that I cut back start trying to blossom again.

I have succeeded in fully brainwashing the Husband and have indoctrinated him in to my "Repurpose Junk" cult. He found this tiny palette like thing and brought it home and asked if I wanted it to do something artistic with it.

    DUH! OF COURSE!

It literally brought tears to my eyes that he thought of me with something like this. He's never understood my "vision" when it comes to taking things and turning them in to cool stuff, however after I finish with these projects he always says, "I honestly didn't see what you were talking about, but it's really amazing".

So, my plans for this is to maybe using it as a canvas and to create a piece of art out of it. I'm no artist, but I'd like to try it out so I'm going to figure out which type of paints work best and how to seal it after I'm done. Then my thought is to somehow incorporate Ivy throughout the top and sides so that it grows around the painting. I'll have to let the creative juices flow on this one. What do you think?
