NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Haleigh Cummings’ step-grandmother has been arrested in Tennessee.

According to Nashville newspaper The Tennessean, police and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Lisa Croslin on a fugitive from justice warrant Thursday. She was wanted in Florida on forgery and theft charges.

Croslin is the mother of Misty Croslin Cummings, whom police said was the last person to see Haleigh, 6, when she disappeared in February from her bedroom in Putnam County.

Authorities said the charges against Misty’s mother are not related to the case of the missing girl.

Meanwhile, editors at the St. Augustine Record and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office are still trying to determine the legitimacy of a letter given to the newspaper earlier this week that could shed new light into Haleigh’s disappearance.

The associate editor would not reveal the contents of the letter, but said if the information was true, it could be a new twist in the case.

Note: these are two separate letters. The letter in this post is NOT the same letter I posted.

St. Augustine Tip Among 4,000 Checked Out By Investigators

PALATKA, Fla. -- Putnam County investigators said they searched an area identified as Haleigh Cummings' grave in a letter dropped off at the St. Augustine Record last week, but the tip did not lead to the 6-year-old girl who has been missing for more than seven months.

The letter, signed only with initials, was dropped off at the St. Augustine Record last Wednesday afternoon. Associate Editor Richard Prior, who saw the letter, told WJXT-TV that the tip would lead investigators to Haleigh -- "if it's authentic."

The woman who dropped off the letter came forward, but investigators said she told them she was the messenger for a man who claimed to be an FBI informant with special psychic abilities. Detectives were told the woman does not personally know the family or have any information about Haleigh's whereabouts. They would like to talk to the man who wrote the letter.

The sheriff's office would not discuss the location the letter claimed was a burial site. Schauland said the specific place the letter mentioned had been searched before, but they returned with cadaver dogs and found no trace of a body or a grave.

"This tip, as have the other more than 4,000 received in this case, has thus far not led to the recovery of Haleigh," Schauland said Monday morning.

Haleigh disappeared sometime the night of Feb. 9 or morning of Feb. 10 from Ronald Cummings' mobile home in Satsuma. She and her younger brother were being watched by Misty Croslin -- at the time Ronald's 17-year-old girlfriend, but who has since married Rondald Cummings -- while he worked a night shift.

An Amber Alert was issued the next day as investigators believed Haleigh was taken from the home. Investigators have given polygraph tests to everyone who had contact with Haleigh in the days before she disappeared and have followed leads throughout Florida and beyond, but they said they still don't know what happened to Haleigh.

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL -- The letter dropped off at the St. Augustine Record by a mystery woman provided investigators with step by step instructions to find the grave of Haleigh Cummings.

The St. Augustine Record, our news partner, has now published the entire contents of the letter it received last week.

Investigators on Monday said the letter contained specific information about a site where Haleigh may be buried.

The St. Augustine Record reports in today's edition just how specific:

"Check the back of father's mobile home. From the right end of the mobile home extending out continue for 540 yards straight. At that point go north 12 yards. Dig 2-3 feet, will strike metal covering an old well, check inside, black plastic garbage bag. Circumstances extend statewide and beyond."

The typewritten letter, according to the St. Augustine Record, is signed by the initials "SAM."

Investigators told First Coast News they searched the area but nothing came up. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office also said the area had been searched before.

A woman dressed in what appeared to be blue hospital scrubs handed the letter to the receptionist at the St. Augustine Record on Sept. 23.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said Monday the woman told investigators she worked as a messenger for an older man who had once been an FBI informant. The unidentified woman also told investigators the man had some "special abilities." Capt. Dick Schauland, a spokesman for the sheriff's office, wouldn't elaborate on whether those abilities meant "psychic abilities."

"We have not talked to him," said Schauland. "We've asked her to bring him in. I don't know if she'll be able to or not."

Haleigh Cummings has been missing since the night of Feb. 9. Misty Croslin-Cummings told detectives she put Haleigh to bed around 8 p.m. The teen wife of Haleigh's father said she woke up around 3 a.m. and noticed Haleigh had disappeared.

Let’s take a look at where this supposed “hot tip” actually leads us. Although the drawing in the letter has not been published at this point, the following key points of information are contained:

-Check the back of father’s mobile home.

-From the right end of the mobile home extending out continue for 540 yards straight.

-At that point go north 12 yards.

-Dig 2-3 feet, will strike metal covering an old well, check inside, black plastic garbage bag.

-The article states the accompanying drawing had broken lines leading off to the side of the trailer with more broken lines leading upward and stopping in a circle.

Although the referenced drawing is not included in the article, lines extending off the side of the trailer then turning upward, along with the instructions to “go north 12 yards” clearly indicate either an east or west direction of travel for the 540 yard path. If the line of travel were to the south, “turning north 12 yards” would result in doubling back along the line just traveled. If the line of travel were north, there would be no turn but rather an extension of travel to “turn north 12 yards”.

Below you can see where 540 yards in a line extending off the back of the trailer places us, both east and west:



Neither location seems to be a likely location for an old well does it?

IMO, this entire story is a put out affair for the purpose of misdirection on someone’s part. I don’t understand why LE ever left the office with this tip, much less conduct a search based on this alleged information.

BTW, can anyone tell me how you dig DOWN 2-3 feet to find an old well in Florida? How do you “bury” a well?

I can't believe all this attention was paid to a letter from a psychic.  A psychic who wasn't even willing to drop off the letter personally or speak with press/police about it.

I was soooo hopeful that they were going to get some answers, and I am let down now.  :-(

I share your feelings as well.    We can just hope that Misty comes clean soon and explains things. I also wonder about the people at the supposed "party" and what they are saying? Maybe one will come forward, especially the Greg guy that is rumored to be with Misty that night.

Nah ive never seen the show so maybe it proves my thinking wrong.  Any psychic ive ever seen on TV has been bullshit.  I especially loved the psychic ladies with the dogs that were out in Orlando and on Nancy Grace every night last year looking for Caylee Anthony and a meter man ended up finding her.  Everytime i hear the word psychic i think of either Miss Cleo or Madam Ruby from the Pee Wee movie and how she jacked his wallet and fed him bullshit info about his bike.  "Its at The Alamo.....In the basement!"
