PUTNAM COUNTY - Putnam County Sheriff's Office investigators need help identifying a woman who brought a letter regarding missing Haleigh Cummings to the St. Augustine Record late Wednesday.
The letter apparently includes a tip about the disappearance of then 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings last February, according to a statement just released by the Sheriff's Office. Investigators want to speak with the woman to get more information and details.
The woman who brought the letter appeared at the newspaper's office in St. Augustine and left an envelope for Associate Editor Richard Prior. It included typed information about the young girl. Detectives collected the letter from Prior and started following up on the information, according to the statement.
"Unfortunately the detectives need further clarification of the information, and are hoping that someone will recognize the woman that delivered it," Capt. Dick Schauland said in an e-mailed statement.
Prior said today that he would not be sharing the letter's specifics and that the newspaper was not immediately planning to publish the information in the document. The paper, he said, has decided to wait for the Putnam County investigators to try to contact the woman who dropped it off.
"For the time being we're not going to publish it," Prior said. "Since we are apparently the only ones who have the letter, there's no real rush."
The newspaper's Web site shows an image of the woman dropping off the letter. She has blonde hair and was wearing sunglasses and blue "scrubs," the garment often worn by nurses and others in the medical field.
Prior said she was probably in the newspaper building 10 seconds and probably didn't realize she was caught on camera dropping off the envelope. When he opened it and read the letter, Prior said he thought "It's pretty amazing"
He contacted his boss, made a copy of the letter and also contacted the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Prior said he also shared the letter with lawyers for Ronald Cummings, Haleigh's father. Together, they went to deliver the letter to the Putnam County officials.
Prior said the information in the letter could be "potentially vital" to the investigation, but that's unclear after seven months and thousands of tips related to the case.
"This may be as valueless as all those other tips," Prior said. "But they want to check it out. Nobody knows until the cops check it out."
But Prior added, "If it's true, it will be pretty volatile."
"At some point the contents of the letter will come out," he said. "We're not interested at all in interfering with their investigation...They didn't ask us not to [publish the contents] but they said it would help if we held off until they talk to this woman."
That request, he said, was important in the paper's decision.
"If they had not asked, we probably already would have published it," he said.
The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the letter's contents either, but if the information is true, Schauland said, "It could be very helpful in solving the Haleigh Cummings case."

Misty Jizzings failed two lie detector tests and the voice analysis test. Also her 911 call sounded like she was on xanax she was so calm. To say she knows exactly what happened is an understatement.

ONE of the things I found odd(only one of many) was when the dispatcher asked Misty what was Halieigh's birthday. She didnt even know it. This girl is so in love with her father and is about to be married and didnt even know his childs birthday?
Sad to me that all that little girl knew was her fucked up inbred garbage family. :(

Nope. This is a completely different letter delivered last night. It was a typed letter and they are not releasing anything else about it yet. The lady was taped hand delivering it and they want to know who she is.

I wonder who the "someone else" is.A woman Putnam County deputies wanted to speak with in connection with a tip about the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings came forward Friday.
Earlier this week the woman dropped off a letter about the child, who vanished from her father's Satsuma home in February, at the St. Augustine Record Wednesday afternoon.
The newspaper provided the letter to officers who said they wanted to speak with the woman because they needed clarification about information in it. If true, deputies reported the letter could be "very helpful" in solving the case.
On Friday afternoon, officers reported that the woman voluntarily came to the Sheriff's Office after learning detectives wanted to talk with her. She told officers she was delivering the letter for someone else, the Sheriff's Office reported in a statement.
"Detectives are continuing to follow up, hoping that the clarification will make the tip useful," the agency reported.
Investigators have not released the woman's identity or information about what was in the letter.

Whoa....this just took an interesting twist. The more info that comes out about this whole "family" of people the more my heart hurts for this little girl.

Nursing home, hospital, cafeteria, any type of medical school uniform. It's really hard to pinpoint exactly but I read somewhere that there is only one hospital in that area. Kinda narrows it down.
