KITCHENER— The death of 28-year-old Nadia Gehl is now being treated as a homicide.

An autopsy in Hamilton Tuesday morning revealed Gehl died of gunshot wounds, Waterloo Regional Police said.

Earlier in the day, police released a sketch of a man a witness saw running from the scene near Ottawa Street and Wilderness Drive.

Police are calling the man a “person of interest,” and said they have no suspects in the killing.

Neighbours near the walkway where her lifeless body was discovered Monday morning reported hearing three gunshots.

Gehl, an assistant manager at a toy store and a veterinary technician, lived a short distance away from the scene with her husband and several pets.

The couple rented out part of their home to a tenant, neighbours said.

Police have ramped up their presence in the neighbourhood and are maintaining a command post in front of Gehl’s Watercress Court home.

This happened one city over from where I live.  It happened on Monday and they still don't have any official suspects.

RIP Nadia.
