    Dave's story (modified)

Dave was paroled on August 15, 2006. Unfortunately, he had no where to go and ended up staying at a halfway house. His mother would not let him stay with her. He attempted to reach his son several times, but was unable to reach him. I do not know why he made the decision to use drugs, but he did and ended up overdosing.

I hear you...twelve years ago, before my eyes became accustomed to basically only looking at typed words, I might have been able to handle it, but my eyes just cant focus on it...

    Re: Dave's story

He was in prison for a long time and then got out and lived with his mom who was a junkie and his dad was too.  He met another junkie and they had a baby.  His mom cleaned up and had custody of his son.  He went back to live with his mom and then she threw him out.

I'm thinking maybe that was his suicide note to his son?  It never says why he is writing the letter, just that he wants "you" to know who I am, but he talks about his son "Dameon" and doesn't say "you" all throughout the letter.

You sure about that?  According to that, he was discharged in 2006.  Reason for discharge...Death.

He was from Oakland County...a search on the Detroit Free Press website yielded no hits.  My guess is it was natural causes.  That wouldnt make news.  A prisoner murdered in prison...that would get a story, or even committing suicide.

It's pretty rare that a natural causes death doesn't even get an obit?

Anyway, I think I am going to mosey on back to the Mystery Machine now.  A new case should be popping up soon.  Glad I could help.

The family has to pay for that though right?  Maybe they would not pony up.

Hmm I wonder if this is the son's myspace-

I searched "Daemon Wallner" and it came up. He lives in Michigan. There's a pic in an album that is labled "My Dad when his girlfriend put make-up on him" (or something). Do you think that looks like Dave?

Southfield & Fenkell, where he was picked up, is Wayne County. One of the worst neighborhoods, aside from Cass Corridor, where he ended up.

It MUST be him. His page says he lives at 5 Miles/Telegraph. That is right by the hotel mentioned in the letter.
Also, Five Mile is called Fenkell.

    This kid lives in Brightmoor.
That is my old neighborhood. It was REALLY bad when I lived there, and while I was in MI, recently, I went through there. It's even worse now.
Certainly worth a look on Google Earth if you have it.

He also says he slept in Eliza Howell Park. That is one fucked up park. It was a one way paved circle, full of drugs.
When  you first pull in, it's weed, then acid/mescaline. On farther down are the harder drugs, coke, crack, meth.
Then you come to the end, that is where all the crazy bikers hung out. It was certainly a park with something for everyone.
Cops never even bothered to drive through there.

That neighborhood is infested with drugs. It is pretty much unavoidable when you live there.
There is no prosperity, hope, or future there.
