Why on earth was a 15-year old driving first of all?  Second of all, why were there 7 kids in one Mercury Sable?  The driver did have the car with his mother's permission, but I wonder if she gave permission for him to pick up all of his friends?  The guilt on his head (and hers) must be unimaginable.

This is tragic.  RIP Ashley Emery (13) and Christopher Lerma (13).  I wish your parents or someone responsible would have stopped you from getting into that car.

2 teens die, 5 hurt in one-car rollover
Express-News -

Two 13-year-olds were killed and five injured in a one-car wreck near Stockdale late Sunday.

Deon Mayberry, 15, was driving a 2003 Mercury Sable on County Road 401 in Wilson County, about two miles east of U.S. 87, at 9:32 p.m. when he topped a hill at an unsafe speed, according to the Department of Public Safety report.

He lost control of the car, which went into a sideways skid, plowed through a fence, hit a tree and rolled. Killed were Christopher Lerma, 13, and Ashley Emery, 13, both of Stockdale.

Injured were Deon Mayberry; Destiny Mayberry, 14; Brett Lerma, 12; Amber Lerma, 13; and Ezra Soto, 14. All were taken to University Hospital except Brett Lerma and Soto, who were taken to Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville.

Late Monday, Deon and Destiny Mayberry had been released. Amber Lerma was still in critical but stable condition. The Connally hospital would not release the conditions of Brett Lerma and Soto.

Only Deon Mayberry was wearing a seat belt. A DPS spokeswoman said she was unsure if he had a valid learner’s permit to drive. Holders of such a permit are required to have a licensed adult in the car.

I found a myspace page for a 13-year old Ashley Emery in TX, but the location and last login date makes me question whether it's one of the victims:  http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID =367400532

There are 6 myspace pages that match the name of the other victim, Chris Lerma, in TX, but none of them are listed as age 13 or in Stockdale.

There are no myspace pages for 13-year old Amber Lerma's in TX, but there are a couple for 14- and 15- year olds.  I can't determine if they are for one of the injured girls because the location doesn't match:

No pages listed for Brett Lerma (12).

RIP Ashley and Christopher.
