Today I saw a guy walking his dog in our neighborhood and the dog was carrying it's own bag of shit with its mouth, by the loops even. Put a smile on my face during these end times.

So in the middle of all this my girl Sky comes in last night holding her back leg up and limping. I gave her Derramaxx and this morning she is absolutely refusing to bear any weight on it. I have examined it as best as I can, she freaks out when I touch it, and can't find anything in it like a sticker or rock. So now I get to venture out to the vet, and they won't let anyone in the clinic. You have to call them when you get to the parking lot, and they come pick up the dog and do everything, and then call you to tell you what is wrong with the dog. This is gonna be interesting.
I'm hoping not too. I've had two others in my lifetime have to have an ACL repair. She's not crazy like the young one, but they are all good friends and love to run around the yard together and play. We have an acre fenced, and they were out there playing, and then she came in with a limp. She was partially bearing weight on it at first, but now not at all. She doesn't want me touching her foot though, so I am hopeful it's not the knee, and is only a small injury or sprain.
What you can do in the meantime is seriously limit her mobility. I know it sucks, but if she's either crated or inside most of the time that would be ideal right now.
I'm so sorry this is happening while all of this is going down. It makes what you normally do simply a HUGE ordeal and just not emotionally conducive.
So I took Sky in and she was running a high fever and her hock is very swollen. They took x-rays and said they looked ok-no breaks and no terrible arthritis. We are treating with carprofen and gabapentin, but they are concerned about her fever. I just took her temp and it's down from where it was, but still high. They are concerned about Shar-pei fever. I'd never even heard of that before today, but they said since Chows and Shar-peis are so closely related, Chows can sometimes get it.
