Yes. Vegans and small children (they're young and tender and you don't know them very well yet)

The HOA is finally allowing a second dog.

Went to the Humane Society yesterday and found an adoptable to "meet and greet" with. When we went to the front desk, they told us she had already been adopted. Guess, we'll just have to keep on checking. I was shocked to see a Cane Corso there. Wonder what his story is. There were so many sweet pits. A lot of people here get them to look tough, then get rid of them because they don't know how to care for dogs. Sadly, we cannot have one due to our building's insurance, but they were among the sweetest of the bunch. Chloe is half pit, but they allowed us to move in because she looks more like her lab half. Anyway, the entire experience made me so sad. Then I had to get stuff from the mall and walked by a pet store called Puparazzi. I hate that store.

Thanks. Im really bummed. I didnt want to have him be an out door cat, but he wouldnt have it. He was a stray, and he loves it outside. Im just confused because he never leaves the yard. He goes out, does his business and then lays on the porch until someone lets him in. hes usually trying to get into eat right about now, but hes still nowhere to be seen. I didnt name him. I just had this feeling that if I did, Something bad would happen and it would hurt that much more. Jake decided to finally name him Franklin about 2 nights ago. Now hes missing

Have you checked all the places that he could get into too? Closets, under the beds, in the laundry hamper, kitchen cabinets? Pneumo likes to hide. I can't count how many times I thought he got out and I looked every where in the house. I would be calling his name and he wouldn't come. I would drive all over the neighborhood. Eventually he would come out like nothing had happened. Sometimes I would find him in the places I named above. I guess he just needed some alone time. I hope he pops up soon!

Cane Corso's are gorgeous dogs but unless you have experience with that large of a breed dog, I wouldnt do it. I have mastiffs and I adore them and they are the sweetest gentle giants ever but I wouldnt adopt one unless it was relatively young and I knew everything about it. They get scared and it comes across as agression sometimes.
Cane corso's have a tendency to be aggressive (of course not all of them are, there are exceptions) but if you are interested, I would get as much info on him as possible.

Oh, god, girl. I wouldn't even consider it. Chloe is powerful enough for me at 60 lbs! I honestly don't know how you do it! I was just so surprised to see such a large, relatively uncommon, purebred dog at the pound. They get common purebreds all the time. But probably like you said, someone bought one and did not have the proper experience and knowledge. Thanks for the info, though.

I'm undecided on weather to get another medium sized dog, or a smaller one. The trouble with a small dog is the high pitched yap. I do not want that, but I'm sure not all small dogs do that.

However, I am enamored by the giant breeds. Whenever I encounter them at the beach or dog park, they are so sweet and gentle it astounds me. Gentle giants like you said! Prior to Chloe, I had very little experience with dogs. The first time a Great Dane lumbered up to me at the dog park, I nearly shit my pants. Then all he wanted was a mere pat on the noggin. Cutie pies.

when the big black baby came to us, she didn't bark at all. she would whine if left outside but never barked. then one day the doorbell rang and she filled the house with this deep WOOOOOOOF! i was so shocked and surprised and proud. i love this pup something fierce but i had to leave her behind when i left. my companion of five years, who used to sleep at the foot of my bed became my mom's companion. i thought i spoiled her but i go to visit now and she is a total princess. i love it! but i miss her sweet face. she's been with the family for 10 years. i can't believe it. she's looking good for 12.

Not all small dogs have a high pitched yap. My Spice (corgi mix) for one rarely barks and has a mid sized bark when she does have something to say.

    Avoid shelties. Worst yappers ever.

neighbor has three chihuahuas. two of them have okay yip-yap barks. the third has this shrill thing that makes me want to stab him. and puzz is right. sheltie yaps are awful.
