EUGENE -- Eugene police have identified a man found dead of hypothermia in Northwest Eugene last week.

A passerby spotted Thomas Lawrence Egan, 60, after 5:30 p.m. Dec. 16, his legs covered with a sleeping bag and his body covered in snow, said Melinda Kletzok of the Eugene police.

Egan was lying near the intersection of West First Avenue and Blair Boulevard and the temperature was 22 to 27 degrees that evening, Kletzok said.

Egan was known as an army veteran who was homeless and suffered from disabilities, according to the Lane County medical examiner's office.

I feel really bad for the homeless people that can't find a shelter and  have to sleep out in this. :-(
