I disagree with mishira about axl and cobain. axl's was unique and I can tolerate it and well Cobain? His voice was the voice of my generation :| I can still hear heartache throughout the entirety of Unplugged
Hey, Cobain was the voice of my generation as well. I was in high school and college when grunge was big. I still listen to Nirvana when it comes on the radio, and "All Apologies" will always be one of my all-time favorite songs. But Cobain did not have a good singing voice. Neither does Bob Dylan, but that doesn't make him any less of a musical genius.

But Axl Rose? I will never get it. There has never been a point in time when I liked Guns & Roses. This is largely due to Rose's horrific caterwauling.

I like the first album but was slightly disapointed in the 2nd and I didn't bother with sawdust. They better bring the A game if I am going to continue and listen to them.

Sawdust was full of songs they knew were not good enough for the album, and it showed. I do love "Tranquilize," "Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf," and "Under the Gun," off that one, however...

Get Sam's Town out now, put it in your car and roll it a few more times...I didn't love it at first either, but I think it is almost as good as the first one, just different. Love "Sam's Town," "For Reasons Unknown," and "Bling" is my favorite song of theirs overall, barely beating "All These Things I've Done" and "Smile Like You Mean It."

That being said, I am not a huge fan of the first single, but it is growing on me the more I hear it.

For the last time, I never thought McCain was the best thing since sliced bread and free internet porn...As a moderate, he was more paletable than Obama...

The Killers are the only band of the 2000's I like. Granted, considering I listened to sports and talk radio for most of the decade, it was rare for me to hear new stuff, but I love them.

I was a total grunge fan, STP, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, etc in the 90's...so by that comparison it is strange...

When people think good music has 'stopped' it's because they're no longer listening. Mainstream radio has NEVER reflected what's good in music. Do you think the Velvet Underground or The Stooges or even David Bowie got a lot of radio play? Or even write ups until they were too famous to ignore? No.

so sad when i saw him live at coachella, i think it was 2004, i couldn't watch.

I wish i would of gone to the vampire weekend show :( i need to get to another show.
today i was listening to an old album I like by the fiery furnances, and it just wasn't the same.

2004 was my last favorite year of music. there has been some randoms since then.
but yeah ...... it's a sign.

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

I've been secertly compling the songs that should be played at my funeral. there's a thread for that.

"let's go crazy" by prince
"boys don't cry" the cure
"supersonic" jj fad
"push it" salt n pepa

that's what i can remember right now ;
i only have one song that i want played at my funeral: "atmosphere" by joy division

I kind of feel that way too. If they do have a funeral for me, they better do something to put the fun in it.

Excellent!

They could have the lid of my coffin pop open and have all 20 of my mourners pop out of it like it was a clown car!

I don't think that it's "stopped" I just haven't fallen in love with anything for a real long time. There's a lot of songs, music, musicians that I "like" but "love" not so much not right now. Does that mean it won't happen again for me? No. I'm waiting for it.

This list is based on vocal talent alone and has nothing to do with songwriting abilities. Dylan, Cobain, and Axl all made the list. Billy Corgans whiny ass did not

Agree. I never could stand the radio. If I want to listen to music I will put on what I want. Radio stations just play whoever pays them the money. Even as a child growing up I would make my parents turn off Casey kasem and turn on our local college radio station. At least I could tolerate that

I disagree. Their first album is a guilty pleasure to me. What you said is exactly what I said when Hot Fuss was released. Then it all went down hill :|
I'll check into the Klaxons though, thanks.
