I finally found signs!! And tonight is the night I am going to steal opposing signs from asswipes (I know I'm a judgmental bitch) yards! I've been scoping them out all week and if all goes well, I should have at least a dozen. My neighbors across the street just added lovely McCain and yes on prop 8 signs to their yard. :x They shall be gone by the end of the weekend.

I have back up signs in the garage just in case someone steals mine in this scary ass racist homophobic neighborhood.

Oh..and I'm working the phone banks on Monday night. My goal: talk people into voting against this proposition. I'm sure I will get cussed out and hung up on a lot! Sounds fun!

Mike, how's the sign hunting going up north?
I hate to sound like a Debbie Downer, but stealing signs is crap, lol.

The whole point of being against Prop 8 is to ensure that no one is deprived of their inherent civil rights, and stealing signs... I dunno, I feel it's a small measure of attempting to silence someone using their inherent civil right to free speech.

It's like me going over to your house and telling you that you have no right to tell me what you believe in.

    Am i wrong?

I'm not in Cali, but I've been eyeing a house.  They have 4 McCain signs in their yard and another sign that says "Prepare to meet thy Lord" right by my kid's school.  It's so gone tonight!  I dont run so quicklike...watch me "meet thy lord" running away

I think someone has beat me to it! A bunch in my neighborhood have been removed by the owners or stolen recently. I will find some this weekend though.

Somewhere in the Bay Area a person wrote on their own SUV and parked it in front of a Yes on Prop 8 supporter's house. I think it said Bigot and had an arrow pointing to the house. I need to find the article online.

Whatever. I obviously am not going to go inside a gate to steal a sign. I'm talking about people who have open lawns. And they will never even know I'm there because I'm stealth like that. But yeah, whatever.

You're okay with hookers but not same sex marriage? It isn't like a gay couple is going to bring crime, robberies, and drug deals into neighborhoods. It just seems weird that someone would be so forward thinking as to say hookers are okay, but same sex marriage? thats just wrong.

Yeah, it's mostly Obama signs here too.  But there's a couple churchy people who each have up to 4 mccain signs to make up for it.  One house has the prepare to meet thy lord, and the other house has all kinds of anti abortion shit signs in their yard.

It's blight  And I'm taking care of it.

Woman arrested; allegedly stole 'Yes on 8' signs

CARLSBAD – A 28-year-old woman was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of stealing “Yes on 8” campaign signs, police said.

Kimberly Erlenwein was arrested after police were told signs were being stolen from the center median of Carlsbad Village Drive at 8:30 a.m.

Police said Erlenwein had 11 campaign signs in favor of Proposition 8 in her vehicle.

    She was cited and released.

Police said the signs were photographed and returned to a “Yes on 8” representative.

Erlenwein admitted to taking the signs in Carlsbad, police said. Authorities do not know if she is connected to similar sign thefts in other areas of the county.

Proposition 8 is a proposed amendment to the California constitution which would eliminate a same-sex couple's right to marry.

The proposition will be up for vote in the Nov. 4 election.

that's true. it is against the law. My moms husband is a politician and he used to flip out when people stole his signs. Usually they don't call the cops though, they just get even. I think it's only illegal if you take them from peoples property though. we have a ton that are on city property along side roads.

Who keeps stealing my "yes on Prop 8" sign from my yard?

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081020063406AAiD6o3

    Look at this response!

You really have it wrong. It isn't about hate, it is about preserving families. People in favor of gay marriage are not trying to keep a right that they already have. They are trying to carve out special rights for a small group. Before the CA Supreme Court overstepped their bounds and overturned the will of the voters, everybody had exactly the same rights. Now, a small group has special rights due to judicial legislation.

Let me share a personal example. Both of my grandparents on my mother's side were alcoholics. Alcoholism may be genetic, but it really doesn't matter, since I chose not to drink. Society allows drinking, but we protect ourselves from the consequences of drinking by passing and enforcing drunk driving laws. Drunk driving is bad because it can kill people. Drunks are often (but not always) abusive too. This is bad for society, and we have the right to protect ourselves.

I know you'll say the gay marriage is not hurting us, but you are wrong. As a species, gay marriage hurts us as is not conducive to procreation and the extension of the species. As a parent, I believe it it damaging to our children to have to deal with this issue. No, I don't hate you, and no, I really don't care what you do that isn't visible to my children, but once you force it in their face, I must protect them. Just like I don't care if somebody drinks, I need to protect my children from the drunk driver.

And yes, it is already being forced on small children. Reference the first graders that went to their lesbian teacher's wedding on a school sponsored field trip in San Francisco. Yes I know that a parent organized it, but it was inappropriate, particularly if they did not receive parental permission from every single child that went.

Quit trying to force your lifestyle in our faces, and perhaps you would meet with less hostility. Drunk driving is bad, and so is gay marriage.
