In one of the audio recordings witht he detective he told Jodi that in Arizona you don't even have to register to buy weapons, so they have such lax laws it's possible you don't have to lock them up either.

Jodi and her Grandparents lived in California (Gun laws in California are some of the strictest in the nation. Gun laws in Arizona are pretty lax)

She did say I didn't know there were guns in the house, but she followed through with UNTIL the cops were there because they were reported stolen.
