Man with Big Mac Obsession claims to have eaten 23,000.

    EWW.
Has anyone else read this article? This guy MUST weigh a ton!

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080909/...23000_big_macs

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - A 54-year-old man says his obsessive-compulsive disorder drove him to eat 23,000 Big Macs in 36 years. Fifty-four-year-old Don Gorske says he hit the milestone last month, continuing a pleasurable obsession that began May 17, 1972 when he got his first car.

Gorske has kept every burger receipt in a box. He says he was always fascinated with numbers, and watching McDonald's track its number of customers motivated him to track his own consumption.

The only day he skipped a Big Mac was the day his mother died, to respect her request.

The correctional-institution employee says he doesn't care when people call his Big Mac obsession crazy. He says he's in love with the burgers, which are the highlights of his days.

    A bit over 1.5 a day...Hmm...

I wonder if he had four on some days, then went a few days without one.

There isn't a picture of him posted in that article. There is a thumbnail-sized preview of a video which I didn't bother to watch because I didn't realize it was about him.

Wow, I feel so dumb thinking that a guy who eats big macs every day would be fat, how nonsensical of me

Had you watched it, you would have saw that it isn't thumbnail size, you can see him really good.  We don't know his other eating habits, he could just eat that for lunch everyday, etc.  But then we ALL know what they say about assuming.

I think the "EWWWW he must weigh a ton comment" pretty much sums that up.  Had this man indeed weighed "a ton" would you have thought that funny?  Disgusting?  Sick?  Do you realize that people who are morbidly obese suffer from eating disorders?  They are just like anorexics or bulemics, only because they are found "EEEEW" they just get laughed at, told well just stop eating.  Had this been someone who starves themselves or binges and purges, they would only receive sympathy.  It is the double standard there I have a problem with because at the time of your comment you did not know whether this guy had a eating disorder or not.

I'm getting chest pains just thinking about it. I couldn't do it simply because I like variety. I can't do the same thing twice in the same week, let alone everyday, twice a day.

Well, being overweight myself I wasn't saying "EW" at the fact that the guy must weigh a ton. I'm saying Ew at the thought of Big Macs and especially that many. I don't like them, and eating that many in a lifetime just sounds disgusting because they obviously aren't very good for you. It wouldn't be funny if he WAS huge, it just wouldn't have surprised me because I would assume that one who has eaten 23,000 big macs probably would weigh quite a lot, because in my experience, you eat a lot of food that is bad for you, you get fat.

Yea this is the guy from Super Size Me.
He does not weigh a ton.  He only eats BigMacs, not the fries or the soda which packs much of the calories and fat.  I am in no way saying that BigMacs are healthy, but since he ONLY eats bigmacs, he doesnt get the calories from anything else.  Its mostly bread.
He was kind of an oddball.

He proposed and got married at McDonalds.  and somewhere i heard that he makes love on the empty wrappers hehehe.

If he has a big mac and eats really healthy for other meals (variety of fruits and veggies) it's really not all that bad. Not all that good either,  lots of fat and salt, but no more than say pizza or other fast food.  Subway is supposed to be better, and it is as far as calories and fat, but look at the sodium.

Trouble is, of course is that most people who eat at least one meal a day at McD's probably aren't eating healthy for their other meals either.

And you are right...I am not a big fan of Big Macs either.  Eating badly will not only put weight on you but make you very unhealthy!  Listening to the video it seems like he eats one a day...he also has OCD which may work in his favor of NOT getting fat?  I don't know.  Yeah, I am overweight myself and in the media you hear SO much about Anorixics and Bulemics and thin all the disparaging remarks about people who are REALLY huge that I can't fathom why people don't realize it is just another form of an eating disorder you know?  Truthfully, that is a crusade of mine..that and animal cruelty.  I am amazed he kept all the receipts from it!!
