Yea USC is wayyy overrated this year.  Theyre starting a freshman QB for fucks sake.  Also Nebraska blew the game by letting Taylor scramble for about 10 seconds until he finally found an open WR in the end zone for that game winning TD.  Looks right now like Florida and Texas are headed for the title game unless Oklahomo can knock off the Longhorns.

Yea i wouldnt be shocked if they win tonite cause i personally think Ole Miss and Snead are overrated.  No way theyre the 4th best team in the country.  Plus the game is in Columbia.  South Carolina still has to go to Alabama and play Florida i think at home later in the year though but ill be rooting for them tonite.

Point proven.  Even though SC looked shaky in the last quarter their defense got it done at the end.  And Snead 7 for 21 with 107 yards and 1 TD and hes supposed to be a Top 5 pick in next years draft???  Doesnt say a lot about next years draft class.

    Re: College Football Thread

This is such a freak injury and to one of their best RB's.

USC running back Stafon Johnson remained hospitalized but was improving Tuesday after undergoing more than seven hours of surgery for injuries suffered while weightlifting.

The lengthy specialized surgery was required because of a threatened airway and severe injuries to Johnson's larynx, according to Dr. Gordon Hinika, the trauma medical director at California Hospital Medical Center.

It is unlikely Johnson will play again this season, but doctors are expecting a full recovery, Hinika said.

"Stafon is doing very well," Hinika said. "He underwent very successful surgery, as we stated yesterday was over seven hours. He rested well. Actually, this morning, he's communicating with his mother and his USC team."

Johnson was bench pressing with a spotter in the Heritage Hall weight room around 11 a.m. Monday when the bar slipped out of his right hand and fell at an angle onto his throat, according to a statement released by the university.

The bar "hit him with a lot of force and it hurt him," coach Pete Carroll said.

USC athletic trainers and emergency personnel rushed to the scene and Johnson was taken to California Hospital Medical Center.

Hinika said doctors were weaning Johnson off a ventilator. He said the meticulous surgery was required to repair Johnson's airway, noting that the structure around the running back's vocal chords was "fractured and displaced."

"This is ... a very, very rare injury, especially from weightlifting," he said. "These are the type of injuries usually it (happened) in the old days when people did not wear a seat belt, and you get an accident and you're thrown through a windshield."

Carroll visited Johnson at the hospital this afternoon.

"He's looking good and his spirits are very high," Carroll wrote on his Twitter page after the visit. "Thanks for your support."

Tonight, Carroll shared a message from Johnson via Twitter, "Thank you all 4 the prayers and love I truly feel it... We ride 2gether we die 2gether umma TROJAN 4 LIFE...."

Because Johnson has played only four games this season, he would be able to apply for an extra year of eligibility because of a medical hardship, the school's football blog, USCRipsit.com reported.

Strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle was within 10 feet of Johnson when the accident occurred.

"I've seen players have the bar slip and fall onto their chest, but never in my 25 years of coaching have I heard of someone dropping a bar on their throat," Carlisle said.

An assistant strength and conditioning coach was spotting Johnson when the accident occurred.

"We're fortunate he was being spotted," Carlisle said.

The bench press is commonly regarded as one of the safest exercises in the weight room, especially with a spotter, Carlisle said.

Johnson, a 5-foot-11, 210-pound senior, has rushed for 157 yards on 32 carries and a team-high five touchdowns this year. He was USC's leading rusher in 2008 with 705 yards

LOL...Yea that was the only game yesterday in which i was happy about the outcome cause i cant stand Oklahomo.  Pissed that Notre Dame won AGAIN late in the game and also pissed at LSU's win.  Only good thing is it sets up a great game next week with Florida/LSU as long as Tebow's close to full strength.  LOL @ everyone on Houston's balls and then shitty UTEP rips them, scoring 58 points.  IMO theres no real standout teams up to this point except Florida, Texas and Alabama.

God that was a messy game last night in Missouri.  I went to bed at the half hoping for a big second half.  Now I'm kicking myself today for going to sleep.  Glad the Huskers finally came alive in the 4th.

27-12 Nebraska but they were losing 12-0 going into the 4th quarter in the pouring rain. Nebraska's D came up with a couple of big INT's and their QB made some nice passes.

Yea Oregon was losing 3-0 at half and then i looked back and 5 minutes into the second half they were up 21-3.  I like Oregon and they have dope uni's no matter what the haters say.  Sucks they dont get Blount back until at least November cause he punched that pussy from Boise right in the chin.

Yeah it was great. Three touchdowns in like 3 minutes. I still say that guy from Boise State deserved to be punched but whatever. It happened and at least Blount will be back before the season's over.

Being down by a touchdown at half isn't bad at all.  LSU is generally a better second half team.
