ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman accused of not reporting her daughter missing for five weeks refused to answer a judge's question of where her daughter was in a bizarre missing person case that continues to frustrate investigators.

Casey Anthony, 22, was taken into custody Wednesday after her daughter's grandparents called Orange County sheriff's deputies over concerns about the well-being of Caylee Marie Anthony, 2.

Detectives said when they contacted Anthony it was determined that she apparently never told anyone that Caylee has been missing for more than a month.

Thursday, Orange County Judge John Jordan asked Anthony where her daughter was.

"Mrs. Anthony, the court would say to you, 'Where is Caylee Anthony?' Jordan asked Thursday. "But I can't force you to answer that question but that is the question I leave with you. Do you understand?"

"Yes, sir," Anthony said.

Anthony did not say anything else.

"It appears to the court that you care so little for your child that you did not even report her missing until five weeks later," Jordan also said.

Detectives said Anthony said she was doing her own investigation into her daughter's disappearance over the past five weeks, Local 6 reported.

The woman also said she saw movies and reports that if people in similar situations went to police, they had gotten hurt.

Anthony said her daughter was with a baby sitter at the Sawgrass apartments but on June 9, the sitter did not answer the door.

Detectives said they checked with apartment management and learned that no one has lived in the apartment for five months.

Late Wednesday, Caylee's alleged baby sitter was tracked down by detectives and the woman said she has never cared for the missing child.

Investigators also said that Anthony does not work where she initially claimed to be employed.

Officers said she admitted to lying throughout her interrogation.

"It is difficult to sort through what we are being told," Orange County sheriff's Sgt. John Allen said.

Also, detectives said Anthony did not show any emotion over the loss of her child. She did not cry or give any indication she was legitimately worried.

Since investigators cannot get a straight story, they are focusing on finding Caylee.

"I feel the more media exposure we have, the quicker we can bring Caylee home and that is the whole point of all of this -- to bring Caylee home safely," Caylee's grandmother Cindy Anthony said. "I kind of felt hopeless last night but I kind of felt hopeful today."

I read this story elsewhere earlier today and it didn't have all of the details of this one. I didn't want to jump to conclusions, because, hey, maybe the sitter really did take her. Stranger things have happened.

A Florida woman waited more than a month to report the disappearance of her 2-year-old daughter.

Casey Anthony, 22, was charged with child neglect and lying to police. She is being held without bond in Orange County, Fla.

Her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, is still missing.

"You left your 2-year-old child with a person who does not exist at an apartment you cannot identify and you lied to your parents about your child's whereabouts," Judge John Jordan said during a hearing this morning, according to the Orlando Sentinel. "You cared so little about your child."

Local news organizations are reporting that Anthony told investigators she left the girl with a babysitter at an Orlando apartment complex in early June.

Anthony says she has been searching for the woman ever since. But detectives, who first learned about the case yesterday, tell the Sentinel the apartment she identified as the babysitter's has been vacant for more than four months.

Central Florida News 13 reports that the woman she identified as the babysitter has told police she doesn't know Anthony.

"It's difficult to sort through what we've been told, given that what we've been given was false," Sheriff's Sgt. John Allen tells the Sentinel.

Casey had also said that the babysitter had been employed there, which they found out to also be a lie.

"While with Leonard, I called the defendant on my cell phone and put my phone's speaker on so all could hear. The defendant confirmed that she did currently work for (X) as an event coordinator. She said her office extension was 407-224-1000 x 104. Leonard said this was not a valid extension and even tried calling it. She said her direct supervisor was Tom (Manley). They have no Tom Manley employed there. The head of the events department is Tom Mattson. Leonard called him and confirmed that they did not have the defendant listed as an employee, either past or present. I asked the defendant where her office was (she claimed to have her own office) and she couldn't give me the building number or location. When asked if she had her current work ID, she said she didn't know where it was.

I asked Sgt. Allen to see if he could arrange to have someone go back to the (X) address and meet with the defendant to see if she would agree to come to (X) At 1230 hrs Sgt Allen and Detective Appie Wells went to the (X) address and met with the defendant who agreed to accompany them to (X). Investigator Turtora agreed to assist us with this.

Once at (X), I met with the three at the employees entrance. Investigator Turtora was present. The defendant, who didn't have her ID, explained to the security guard at the entrance she was a current employee and lost her ID. When the security guard (Steve) asked who her supervisor was, she told him it was Tom Manley. When told no Tom Manley worked there, she had no answer. Investigator Turtora agreed to escort the defendant to where she said she worked. We followed her into a building nearby and down the building's inner hall. She walked with purpose and acted like she knew where she was going. Halfway down this hall, she stopped, turned, and told us she hadn't told us the truth and that she was not a current employee."

INVESTIGATORS NOTE: As of this writing, we do not know the condition of the missing child Caylee Anthony. We do not know where the child is. Based on the repetitive lies that the defendant has told, we do not know with whom the child is or even if the child is alive. As I received information, and relayed it to the defendant after her arrest, she continued to claim ignorance and at times, laughed about the situation. She still failed to show any outward signs of remorse or concern for her missing two year old daughter. I request that she be held on a NO BOND status until the child is located.

Amy Huizenga was the person who told the defendant's mother where the defendant could be found on the evening of the 15th. She claims that the defendant picked her up at the airport around 1430 hours on July 15th in her (Amy's) car. Amy had loaned the defendant her car for the week she was gone. Amy claims the defendant stole some checks and approximately $700. Amy lives with Ricardo Morales at 232 Glenwood Drive."

Ok, stopping here for a second. Casey previously said in this statement that Ricardo Morales was HER ex boyfriend and that she had stayed with him at times since Caylee had gone missing. Continuing.

"She [Amy] can't recall the last time she saw Caylee.

Anthony Lazzaro called claiming he first learned of Caylee's disappearance by deputies coming to his house early this morning and inquiring about it. He claims he met the defendant in May and had been dating her since June. He claims he last saw Caylee on or about June 2nd while at the pool at his complex. He had not seen Caylee since. He has never met Zenaida [supposed babysitter] nor knows where she lives. It was he that contacted Amy Huizenga and had her call me regarding this case. Anthony said while the defendant lived with her since June 9th, she mentioned several times that Caylee was with the "nanny" at Disney, Universal Studios, or the beach. She never gave him any indication that the child was endangered or missing. Detective Gerald White later obtained a sworn statement from Anthony regarding this."

I am sorry but I do not think this women is  sane at all . I know there are mental illnesses that cause you to create and live in your own little world ,these people   have passed lie detector test because they believe this world to be real .I have this horrible gut feeling  that she sold the child .I have no clue why ,but if this was just she is insane and killed her daughter why did the two "co workers " vouch for her .I am hoping she was sold  ,atleast then there is a chance she could still be alive . I hope where ever this little girl is she is found and is ok .I know its a long shot but  will still hope. I seriously think we should have a law that says if you harm or neglect a child you should not be allowed to have another one .That way we might be able to stop repeat offenders and crazy people from hurting innocent kids .
